Fitzroy Island Day Trip from Cairns

The freedom to spend the day snorkelling, exploring the island, glass bottom boat tour and seeing turtles swimming around freely, fabulous!

It was a good day for Fitzroy island. We bought the package including glass bottom ship and snorkelling equipment hiring. We also selected the guided snorkelling tour, which is highly recommended for those haven't snorkelled before. The walking trail to the peak roughly took 2.5 hours. The scenery at the top is stunning, but wouldn't recommend it if you are not physically fit.

This experience was absolutely amazing, the kids thoroughly enjoyed the snorkeling especially seeing the Great Barrier Reef so up close and personal to swim with turtles and beautiful fish was just priceless. The tour guides had plenty of knowledge it was something not to be missed.

Very beautiful Island.. Anyone who saw my posts said, “Where is that island the water is so clear and clean!” It was magical I definitely will return!

Ohlala had a ball at Fitzroy Island. Thank you wonderful staff for taking care of us all! The team were hardworking, engaging and clearly loved the sea and island. Very well organised trip and well-equipped. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and didn't want to leave. I went snorkelling and paddleboarding and saw a turtle and beautiful fish! The coral beach was interesting and not what I am used to. I wish I stayed longer. I only went for a day trip.

We paid for ocean trampoline and paddle ski pass, but there is no trampoline and not enough paddle boat, need to wait in queue and considered lucky to get one before 3pm. The island itself is pretty but would not go again.

A simple to book and incredibly special day trip to Fitzroy Island for a family of four with two children aged 9 and 11. The ferry staff, hire staff and all crew and guides on the glass bottom boat and snorkel safari were incredible! We took the full package, which included a boxed lunch, which was nice - and they catered for our one food allergy with no issues. We booked the snorkel safari whilst on the way to the island on the ferry, and we also had the glass bottom boat...which ended up being quite a lot and didn’t leave much “free” time. So I think if there was one piece of feedback, it might be to advise passengers/customers not to book too many activities if they are wanting to chill out for a bit! Especially given the walk (mini hike!) to Nudey Beach takes a good 20 mins one-way and is definitely not suitable for a family with a pram! But fantastic all round and would highly recommend!

The tour ran smoothly, left and returned on time. The staff were lovely, thought it was great that there was a marine biologist present who was friendly and introduced herself on the trip over. She ran snorkelling tours for all different abilities. She also told us where to snorkel based on ability and what marine life we might see. I purchased the full day, all inclusive pack that had a glass bottom boat tour, snorkelling gear, stinger suit and lunch included. We didn't end up doing the glass bottom boat tour. The gear was good, the staff sized us correctly. Make sure you have a pair of shoes/sandals/reef shoes that can get wet as the beach is mostly dead coral and not sand. The lunch was very filling and tasted good. The island is beautiful, we saw some great fish however the water was a bit murky in some areas. There's also limited coral, if you really want to see a coral reef you should do a Great Barrier Reef tour instead. There are some good hiking tracks to have a look around. There's also a turtle rehab centre, although we didn't get a chance to go. I don't have a single negative thing to say about the trip. Very happy and would book using Fitzroy Island Adventures.

The day was really great the cruise people were helpful Fitzroy island is a beautiful place and the food and service were great staff helpful
