After pickup at your hotel, travel to Chichen Itza for a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the ancient site thoroughly on a 2-hour guided tour and learn all about this archaeological site. See the Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Great Ball Court and the Temple of Warriors (or 1,000 Columns) and the Observatory.
You then have some free time to explore the site on your own and take pictures before heading back to the Mayaland Resort to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. You can also use the pools, lounge chairs and see the beautiful botanical gardens at the property. Your tour ends with hotel drop-off in Cancun or Riviera Maya.
Isla Mujeres Tour
Isla Mujeres is a lovely island and town located just 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Cancun. Enjoy a full-day in the sun and sea breeze as you cruise over the gorgeous Caribbean toward your destination, relaxing as you enjoy unlimited drinks from the open bar on board. Along the way watch as the colorful sail fills like a balloon, allowing your boat to glide along in the wind.
Next, stop at a coral reef where you’ll have the option to snorkel. Put on a life vest and complimentary snorkel gear – including a new souvenir snorkel tube – and enjoy exploring marine life in the warm, tropical water. Your time includes instruction and supervision by a certified snorkel guide.
Upon arrival at Isla Mujeres, your guide will accompany your group on a shopping excursion downtown. Afterward, head to the beach club for a buffet lunch, more selections from the open bar, and access to all the amenities – including swimming pool and lounge chairs.
If your looking for a tour with a bit of history, you’ll really enjoy this tour. Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sail was pretty interesting...... if you’ve never snorkeled before and you’re not a strong swimmer this is not the tour for you, but if your just looking to drink non stop two thumbs up!
Mayaland Tour are responsible for this tour. They provided great transportation and they were promptly ontime. 7:10am for Chichen Itza and 8:45am for Snorkeling. The Chichen Itza tour was great. I would suggest to bring an umbrella to help block the sun. The lunch buffet was okay. They have a mix of mexican/latin/'international' which really is mainly burgers and hotdogs. The desert is mainly fruits and sweet rice.
The snorkeling tour was very unorganized. This is not a Mayaland tour company but an assoicate. So the driver drops us off and we spoke with the first gentlemen who tried to up sale us on 'luxury' package. We decline and proceed to the window for get our tickets and pay for docking fees. It was a huge line and the girl at the window didn't know that they were suppose to take Viator voucher. We argue with her and her superior. They told us to go to the other pier. The lines were huge and it would have been pass the time to board if we would listen to her. We had to get a second supervisor who stated that they do take the Viator Voucher. It appears that Viator and this sister company didn't have good communications.
The description timeline is incorrect. The boat takes you to the island and the crew does NOT lead you shopping. They drop you off and say you have 1.5 hour go wherever you like. Just don't be late coming back else the boat leaves without you. The boat comes back to the dock with more people and we are basically 100 capacity on the boat. This was told to us before we got on. The luxury boat would only be 50 capacity.
After that then you go to a location on the same island for the lunch buffet. This was also okay. The best part was the grill chicken because you can at least know it is fresh. It was a smaller selection then the Chichen Itza buffet but it has the same mix of Mexican/International food. The desert had a few chopped fruits and some bitter tasting banana like cake. After that they take us out to the ocean which is when we were allow to snorkel.
The tour says 45 minutes of snorkel but in reality it was probably only 30 minutes or less. This is due to the amount of people on the boat getting their gear and getting into the water. The water is beautiful and there were a lot more fish then expected. We head back to the mainland but stop about 20 minute before to do the spinnaker at the bow. This is first time we seen it. Think of parasailing but just enough for one person to get risen to 20-30 ft above water. You would let go and drop into the water and swim back to the boat.
After getting back on land we did not know who are driver was because the morning driver stated it will be someone else. We ask the snorkeling employee but they said there should be drivers for all different hotels in the street area. We were lucky the Mayaland driver had our names on a sign.
The Chichen Itza guide provided through Mayan Tours was very knowledgeable. Transportation was clean and on time which in the July heat was very much appreciated. For the Catamaran Sail, upon arrival at the dock we were given the option to upgrade to the semi-private boat for a fee. It was worth it. Food and drinks were great and Flippy and his crew were very accommodating.
Chichen Itza Tour: Maurisio and Andres were a wonderful team. Maurisio taught us about much of the Mayan culture he is 1/4 Mayan as we traveled to Chichen Itza. His English was great and he had a great sense of humor and kept us entertained. The lunch buffet had a great variety and there was plenty of food.
The Catamaran Sail with snorkeling was good. This was more of a party atmosphere and was quite entertaining. The catamaran would anchor out near the reefs and we would plunge into the water and snorkel. We then boarded back up and headed into Isla Mujeres and did some shopping. The Black Diamond was where they directed us to go for the restrooms. Upon entering, we had a personal shopper helping us with our purchase decisions. He stayed with us for the full 45 minutes we were in there.
The guide, Victor Gonzalez, was a 5. Victor was extremely knowledgeable. The bus ride was a 1. On the way there, we had to wait 15 minutes at a Pemex station to pick up a tour company employee. On the way back, the air conditioning was out. It was a very hot day and the return bus ride was very uncomfortable.
You would think for that price and two completely different tours you could expect to be bored or feel like they are fast fooding you but NOT, by the contrary....Each day was AWESOME! It was fun and very informative. The cruise to Isla Mujeres was a total party. I loved every minute of it!!!!!!
