Board a comfortable vessel and set sail with your small group to explore the Yucatan Peninsula, one of the only places in the world where you can share the water with whale sharks. Observe the calm waters surrounding Isla Contoy, Holbox, and Isla Mujeres for whale sharks, then once you’ve spotted one, don your snorkeling gear and plunge into the iridescent water to snorkel alongside the fascinating fish. Glide resplendently beside the incredible creatures, watching them feast upon microscopic plankton while enjoying the tropical temperatures of the Yucatan’s water. Return to the boat and relax as you cruise towards the silken sands of Isla Mujeres, to a blissful beach known as Playa Norte. Recline upon the white sands and swim in the glittering turquoise waters before feasting upon a delicious lunch of traditional Mexican dishes. Naturalists will delight in the abundance of bird and marine species on the island. Back on the boat, listen as your onboard biologist regales with fascinating facts about the local wildlife. Information on how to safely interact with marine life will also be provided to ensure your safety and security at all times. The small number limit of 10 participants ensures an intimate and enjoyable experience on the Mexican Whale Shark Snorkel Adventure. Note: The tour includes two jumps into the water with a possibility for more, time allowing.
They were a nice, professional and hard working group of people. One of the best tours I've been on. When I e-mailed them with concerns they got back to me immediately Their guide was informative and the whole crew worked hard to make sure we all had safe close encounters with the whale sharks.
Maria was a fantastic, informative, and attentive guide. The whole Amigo Tours team is well organized, professional, and clean. It’s higher price is made up for in shorter wait times between swims with the whales and swims of 2:1 with the guide.
Great company and an amazing experience. Crew was very professional and took care of everyone on the boat. They were able to find the whale sharks and give each guest 2x in the water to swim with these amazing animals. On the way back, we saw a pod of dolphins too. Their ceviche was delicious. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone traveling to Cancun.
I have given this a one star for two reasons. First is that the tour should have been cancelled due to rough seas. The waves were too high. During our 90 min + boat ride to find the whales the boat was hit by a wave that tossed half the people on the boat from one side to the other. When we finally reached the whale (not whales) the water was so rough you could barely see a thing and we had to be worried about drowning in the high waves. The second reason is that the tour is reckless to humans and cruel to the whales. Image 30 boats circling in a small area around a single whale in high seas and these boats throw snorkelers overboard into the path of the whales every 30-60 minutes. You will be lucky if you do not get run over by one of the boats. The photo of the tour with a single person swimming along near a whale is misleading... Think of a several hundred-people jumping in.
Thank you for tell us about your experience with us. We are an eco-friendly company. We really respect and take care of animals, plants and our planet, because they are so important for us and that's the reason we do 2, maximum of 3 jumps per person.
Thank you for understanding us.
It was a 6 hour tour, 1 hour out, 2 x 30 second encounters with the sharks, 1 hour back and the rest was purposeful time wasting to fill up the 6 hours to justify the price. I felt sorry for the sharks with half a dozen boats circling around them vying for position. It should be stopped really.
Thank you for let us know how it was your experience with us. We do respect the whale shark, that's the reason we just do 2 jumps per person and we have time per jumps.
Thank you again,
The 2 hour ride was choppy, but it was worth the ride and the pukes. We had a couple of dives and we saw the whale sharks up close. Our guide, Ivan, was great, very helpful and accommodating and even offered if we wanted to do more dives since we had some time left. We spent about an hour for lunch and swimming at Isla Mujeres, which has one of the calmest and clearest beaches I've seen. And the ceviche' that was served during lunch was worthy of a Michelin star... didn't expect this pleasant surprise. Overall, it was a delightful and great experience, which was made better by our awesome guide and crew.
Our day with whale sharks was fantastic once we were finally able to go on the tour after days of cancellations and back and forth with the company. The whale sharks were amazing and our guide Omar was very passionate and knowledgable. Ceviche and guacamole at Isla Mujeres were the best we've had the whole trip. Note: we love being out on the water, but this was not a pleasure cruise by any means. You drive balls to the wall from the marina for an hour. Jumping in the water with the whale sharks is crazy fast, and hectic, then you drive balls to the wall for another hour while the boat is slamming down on the waves (your entire body gets jarred painfully) until you reach Isla Mujeres and then you can finally relax. All in all it was a great day, but for people who are experienced divers (like we are) it might not be worth the trip. I definitely wouldn't do it again. In total, we were probably in the water with the sharks for a maximum of 5 minutes over three turns in the water
Never got to take the tour. awe were booked on a Tuesday. On Monday we were told the weather was bad so they rescheduled us for Friday. On wednesday they said the weather was bad and asked if we could reschedule us for Sun-Teus. I'm looking at the weather right now and there's no indication of bad weather whatsoever on Friday. We have been looking forward to this experience for months. They are liars and scam artists and I want a refund IMMEDIATELY.
Dear Heidy S!
Thank you to let us know about your reservation. We are checking the weather all the time. It's not about the sun but mainly about how fast is the wind and how high are the waves, is not just about the sunny or cloudy days. We are very sorry about these changes but we care about your own safety.
We appreciate your understanding after you knew our reasons for changes.
