Begin with an 8am or 8:30am pickup at your hotel in Plymouth, Massachusetts, or Cape Cod, and travel to the Woods Hole ferry in an air-conditioned bus or van. Enjoy views of the Nobska Lighthouse from the deck of the ferry as you make the crossing to Martha’s Vineyard, passing bays full of fishing boats and traditional sailing schooners.
Spend the day visiting Martha’s Vineyard with a tour guide, learning about island history and culture along the way: Visit Oak Bluffs, where colorful gingerbread homes surround an open-air tabernacle in an old fashioned church community. See Vineyard Haven, whose tall ships, captains’ houses, and deep harbor are a favorite destination for boaters.
Continue to Tisbury and elegant Edgartown, then drive through the rolling farmland of Chilmark on your way to the Aquinnah Cliffs. At the cliffs, take photos of the brightly colored clay cliffs with the backdrop of a red brick lighthouse, passing through Wampanoag indian shops on your way to the overlook. Throughout the day, the guide will point out the locations where the movie ‘Jaws’ was filmed, and share stories about Martha’s Vineyard.
At the end of your guided tour, board the return ferry to Woods Hole, where you’ll be met for drop-off at your accommodations.
