Your Florida airboat adventure starts at the tour office in Homosassa to meet your USCG captain and eco-tour guide. Then hop on the boat and take off, looking for dolphins, birds, and fish as you ride, slide, and glide effortlessly across the water. Airboats are able to access areas that bigger, deeper boats can't, giving you more perspective of this coastal environment, much of which is protected.
Explore backwater marshes, and look down at the marine life beneath the surface as you skim across the clear, shallow waters surrounding St. Martins Keys. Your captain also takes you along the border of Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge. This is a speed tour, so hold on and enjoy the saltwater sprays and wind in your hair.
Select your preferred departure time when booking; morning is the best time to spot wildlife. Many varieties of birds are common, and there are often dolphin sightings; if you're really lucky, you may even spot a manatee or an alligator.
Note: It is recommended that you bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and sunglasses. In the cooler months, dress accordingly in pants, a jacket, and maybe even a small blanket to keep you warm. Bottled water and headgear for ear protection are provided (airboats are loud). Hats are not recommended, as they may fly off your head.
