Departure Time

7:25 AM
Take a break from the urban bustle on a full-day escape to Litchfield National Park. After morning pickup at your Darwin hotel or a central meeting point, soak up the scenery and listen to your guide’s narration on the drive to the park. As you approach, you are greeted by inspiring views of Tabletop Range, a sandstone plateau adorned with a curtain of cascading waterfalls.

Inside the park, marvel at giant cathedral termite mounds and learn how these astonishing structures are built by armies of tiny insects. Continue on to Florence Falls, where a 135-step stairway leads to an enchanting natural swimming hole. Take a refreshing dip if you like, and enjoy the surrounding monsoon forest.

Rest and recharge with a cold buffet lunch at the Litchfield Café, where you can indulge in a slice of famous cheesecake. After lunch, travel to nearby Wangi Falls, where year-round currents pour into a large swimming hole. Go in for another swim (during drier months), or simply admire the lush rain forest scenery if water levels are too high. Finally, visit one last glorious cascade, Tolmer Falls, which empties into a deep rock pool.

On the return drive to Darwin, relax in the late afternoon light and listen to local Aboriginal legends about the park’s ancient attractions. Your tour concludes with drop-off back at your Darwin hotel in the evening.

This was the tour I was looking forward to and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Loved every minute of it! Coach driver was great and the stories he shared about the Top End will stay with me. The beauty of the waterfalls, swimming in freshwater and being in nature was unforgettable

Great tour, bad viator

A nice and relaxing tour through northern territories of Australia. A perfect option for those who wants a one day trip and doesn’t have two or three days to visit kakadu. I have arrived to Darwin early morning and had next flight after 24 hours, so I decided to take this tour. It was very interesting to see all these beauties: forests, waterfalls and termite mounds. The tour guide was nice and I’ve learned a lot of interesting stuff about Darwin and its surroundings. Thank you very much guys. I highly recommend it for those who visit Darwin. The tour started at 7:30 am and I was back at Darwin at about 7 pm. An important warning for those who read it! I have booked this tour at viator.com. You must understand that they do not organize this tours directly. They just accept payments and pass your order to local travel companies like aatkings or wayoutback. I had a necessity to figure out my exact pick up point and ask a few more details. It was very important question for me since I didn’t stay in the hotel but was arriving at the Darwin international airport and have little time to get to pickup location. I have tried to contact viator.com by support chat and some emails I managed to find. There was no answer and I failed to get any response from them. Thank god I have found the local tour company that actually organizes these tours and ask my questions to them. In my case it was aatkings. Aatkings have made clear and quick responses and I successfully visited that tour but I could easily miss it and lose my money if I would rely on viator’s help and support. I’m pretty sure that viator takes no responsibility for situations like this and their lawyers probably made sure that it’s pointless to try to make them answer for that. So my advice for you: take the tours directly from those who actually organizes them and don’t trust the aggregators like viator

Surprisingly brilliant!

I had a day in Darwin and, after a bit of hesitation, booked the Litchfield National Park Day Tour at the very last minute (only four hours or so before departure). However, the coach picked me up from my hotel exactly as arranged. I must confess that I'm not normally a coach trip kind of person, but this one could not have been more perfect. Fortunately the coach was less than half full (c.20 people) and this helped make the trip - I'm not sure I'd have enjoyed it quite as much at fully capacity (c.60 people). The driver/tour guide was welcoming, humorous and knowledgeable and gave us so much information as we drove round - stuff that I'd always have been far too lazy to read up on myself. Every place we visited was brilliant - amazing waterfalls to swim in and termite mounds that blew my mind! - but this was helped by the fact that all these places were empty (mid-November) - I'm not sure I'd be quite so keen to be there during high season, with a huge number of other coaches there. We were actually the only coach at each of the places visited; I imagine that they're inundated with droves of people at other times. Would highly recommend this tour - but choose your dates carefully!

Could be perfect with some improvements

Myself and my partner are both 23 and although we were the only young people on the tour we really enjoyed it and it was an amazing experience. We really felt like we were in the northern territory and swimming in the water holes was incredible. My only disappointment came when it was lunch time, the woman in the cafe where we had a buffet was quite rude and wasn’t very friendly at all, there wasn’t enough tables for everyone to sit on and the bus was only around half full. Everything else was perfect and we loved hearing all the bus drivers facts about the local area. A must do if your up in Darwin! .
