Traveller Tips

Perhaps it was the time of year (early May), but as the evening went on and as more stops were outdoors, it got quite chilly and dark.

A Must-Do in Dublin
Kyle_B, Mar 2023
Dublin's Literary Pub Crawl is one of the best ways to explore the city streets in a thoughtful yet fun way. Our stops at St. Andrew's Church and O'Neill's Pub stood out strongest, as we enjoyed a glass of Guinness and learn about the city's changing landscape around the pubs. Part education, part human interest, and part drink, this tour rounds out a great weekend trip to the city.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thank you. A thoughtful review. Colm

Fun Pub Crawl
Abigail_A, Mar 2023
The crawl was gun with excellent actors who shared a glimpse into Irish literature. Pub choices were wonderful and everyone became friends on the tour.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thanks Abigail. It's the social element that people love about the DLPC Colm
A fantastic evening of fun, drink and culture!
Belinda_M, Feb 2023
My favourite bits were the extracts from plays and novels. The actors were brilliant, so enthusiastic and professional and very funny. I was impressed how smoothly everything ran even though there were a lot of us in the group and the pubs we visited were heaving! The whole thing made me determined to dust down my copy of Ulysses and give it another go. Maybe this time I’ll get past Chapter One!
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thanks Belinda. Don't forget to go onto Youtube and type in RTE Ulysses readings. They read it all for 35 hours and you can read along. Job done, no sweat. Thanks for joining the DLPC COLM
Quality tour, acting and pubs
Jamie_H, Feb 2023
Frank and Finbar were great hosts. All of the pubs and the scenes or lines that they performed were quality, with a good amount of storytelling/information about the authors and the city in there too.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thanks Jamie, COLM

Highly enjoyed this tour. More than just literary fun facts, this tour provided historical insight into Dublin and gives you a feel for the city. Recommend for history and literary buffs alike. Also, bonded with our group and made new friends from all over the world! The most fun night of my visit. If you’re seeking an intimate group of like-minded individuals and authentic experience, this tour is for you.

Fun informative tour!
LR_T, Dec 2022
Brilliant tour - both guides were great: friendly and fun. Good way to get some lit history and see some historic pubs -4 in total. The tour lasted around 3 hours - get about 20 mins in each pub, Fun informal quiz at the end. Definitely recommend!
Not again
Selina_F, Nov 2022
We spontaneously booked this tour. The meeting point was easy to find. The guides were both Irish. The tour was in English. I asked if could be spoken more slowly and clearly, but this was not taken into account. The time in the various pubs was very short, about 20 minutes. We cancelled the tour because we didn't understand much. Even people from New York who speak fluent English did not understand everything.

An excellent evening if you like drinking and literature
John_P, Nov 2022
This is a great way to spend about 2 hours if your the kind of person who enjoys theater, performing, poetry, and/or literature. It's fun, it's riveting, it's memorable, it's poignant, and it's just wonderful all around. Brief history lessons of the bars involved and a few historical snapshots of the intersection of the Dublin drinking and literature scenes that came out of the 1800s, including a short tour that indoors a few great bars that weren't too busy and even a stop stop along the beautiful Trinity college campus. If any of that sounds like your jam, you can't go wrong here.
Response from Host, Nov 2022
Thank a lot John for a very positive review. All the best Colm
