The tour guide was more interested in telling us quirky stories he found interesting about obscure people in the cemetery than giving us a general sense of the history of the cemetery and its famous residents, or describing any of the large monuments. You will be standing the entire time so wear comfortable shoes.

A very interesting afternoon spent at Glasnevin. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and packed as much general history information into the 90 plus minutes as was possible. The Patrick Pearse oration delivered by an actor in full uniform was spellbinding, thought provoking and delivered with feeling. Well worth a return trip for that alone. The Tower Cafe provided a welcome rest after being on our feet for over 90 minutes. Plenty of choice of drinks and food to choose from and the cheesecake was delicious, I can definitely recommend that.

Absolutely fantastic tour, only the 4 of us due to a being a dull day in December but the tour guide Grainne I believe was lovely, very passionate about the history of the tour and cemetary. Very knowledgeable and eager to tailor the tour to our needs checking our interests and home locality. Thoroughly enjoyed this and would very highly recommend. A really eye opener, of the history of Ireland and its people. The 2.30pm tour includes a re-enactment of a famous speech - the actor was briliant. History buffs and the interested would be advised to attend. Also from O'Connell St in the Northside of Dublin right by the GPO several buses run with frequency to and from 40, 41 and 140 I beleive so easiy to get to and from.

Our tour lasted two hours. We were guided around to the graves of many of Ireland's modern leaders. The walk was a lesson in the last 150 years of Irish history. The guide was great. FYI, I had made an inquiry with the cemetery about the need of getting tickets in advance. I was told to get my tickets in advance. Glad I did.
