Meet your guide in central Dublin and soak up the scenery on the journey south through the Wicklow Mountains, the region nicknamed the ‘Garden of Ireland’. Arrive at the magnificent mansion of Powerscourt House and follow your guide on a walking tour of the spectacular gardens. Explore some of the 47-acre (19-hectare) gardens, which include shady woodland trails, secret grottos, fish ponds and water features. Admire the idyllic Japanese Gardens, stroll along the grand tree-lined walkways and take a peek at the quirky Pets Cemetery, where the estate’s beloved animal residents are buried.
Continue south to Glendalough, one of Dublin’s most impressive natural wonders and follow one of the leisurely (or more challenging) walks around the beautiful lakes. Along the way, listen to your guide explain the formation of the dramatic glacial valley and learn how it was once an important monastic settlement as you explore the atmospheric 10th century ruins.
After an afternoon relaxing in Glendalough, hop back on the coach for the return journey to Dublin.
