This 4-hour canyoning trip in The Crags is just the thing for those who are adventurous at heart. Go deep into the outdoors, and explore a beautiful place within South Africa. From cliff jumping to zip lining a 98-foot (30-meter) waterfall, you’re sure to get your dose of adrenaline for the day. Swim or hike your way through the river waters, taking in stunning sights of the wildlife as you go.
Make sure to show up at Base Camp 1 in The Crags one hour before your departure time. You’ll need that hour to get your equipment and to listen to a safety briefing before you embark on your journey.
Once you’re geared up, you’re ready to go. Follow your guide and group into a car for a quick 5-minute drive to the beginning of your canyoning trip through a natural indigenous forest. Take a short walk before you rappel into the canyon.
Moving on, it’s your choice whether you’d like to swim or hike between your stops. Arrive at a confluence after a short while. Now, it’s time for your first adrenaline rush of the trip. You can either jump off the cliff into the water below or rappel again with help from your guide.
After some more swimming (or hiking), come to the top of an 82-foot (25-meter) waterfall. Rappel down the waterfall until you touch the water below. Your guide snaps pictures of you all along the way that are available for purchase at the end of your trip (own expense).
Your last heart-pounding undertaking happens at a 98-foot (30-meter) waterfall, one of the biggest falls you’ll see in the area. Zip line from the top of the waterfall and splash into the water below. Then continue for about 30 more minutes until you get to your shuttle vehicle that will take you back to base camp for a nice warm shower.
