With a vast, undisturbed coastal barrier habitat, Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is home to sea turtles, hundreds of bird species, and the endangered Alabama beach mouse. Paddle deep into a roadless area of the refuge on a 3-hour, small-group kayak tour led by a Coastal Nature Guide, watching for wildlife as you explore the Bon Secour River, the Intracoastal Waterway, and Oyster Bay.
  • 3-hour kayak tour of Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge
  • Led by Coastal Nature Guides
  • See wildlife in a natural environment
  • Perfect for all ages and skill level
  • All necessary equipment included
Make your way to Happy Harbor at Oyster Bay, where this tour begins, and where you'll be fitted out with a kayak and safety equipment. Follow a trained Coastal Nature Guide into the inlets and canals of the northern part of Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, paddling along calm waterways at an easy-going pace.

Your guide will share stories about the plants and animals that thrive along this sheltered piece of coast, which offers a glimpse of Alabama’s shoreline prior to modern development. Find out how the refuge was created in 1980 to protect a coastal dune ecosystem that offers a habitat for threatened and endangered species.

This small-group tour is limited to 12 people, so you can spot more wildlife and enjoy more personal access to guides. Keep your eyes on the water and skies, as the refuge is a great place to see red-bellied woodpeckers, belted kingfishers, great blue herons, osprey, blue jays, eastern bluebird, and the brightly colored northern cardinal. At the end your time on the water, return to shore at Oyster Bay where this tour concludes.
