Board your 24-passenger boat from the Adventure Center at Icy Strait Point to begin your whale-watching tour.
Head out on the waters of Point Adolphus, which hosts one of Alaska’s largest resident humpback whale populations, along with sea lions, and harbor seals that live in these protected waters. Keep an eye out for eagles and brown bears along the coast, and learn about the wildlife from the guide as you take in the spectacular scenery.
After the whale-watching cruise, take a scenic drive through Hoonah on the way up the 1550-foot (472-meter) high Hoonah Mountain. Your guide gets you outfitted in safety gear for the ZipRider and provides a safety briefing.
When ready, your guide secures your ZipRider harness to the cable so that you can fly downhill at speeds that reach 60 miles per hour (97 km/hr). Six riders launch together on side-by-side lines that hover 300 feet above the rain forest. Take in spectacular views of Icy Strait, Hoonah, Port Frederick, and, on clear days, the distant mountain peaks of Glacier Bay National Park. At the end of the thrilling ride, you'll land gently on the beach at Icy Strait Point where your tour ends.
