This day trip from Inverness takes you to the dramatic Isle of Skye, heading southwest by minivan to the rugged Scottish Highlands. Your first stop is Loch Ness, home to the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Stop for a break at Invermoriston and spot the Thomas Telford Bridge before continuing on through Glen Moriston and passing alongside the Five Sisters mountain range. Disembark at Eilean Donan Castle for a look at the sprawling ruins along the banks of three freshwater lochs. Upon reaching Kyle of Lochalsh, your vehicle crosses the Skye Bridge to the Isle of Skye, stopping at a charming local inn in Bradford for lunch (own expense). Next you’ll cross over the bridge to Skye and head for Kyleakin, where there’ll be a stop for lunch. Your tour of this magical island takes in the stunningly beautiful sight of the Cuillin Hills on the road to Portree, the capital of Skye and its colourful harbour. Enjoy sea views of the Isle of Rum before re-boarding the minivan for the return journey. Pass the village of Achnasheen, Black Islethe and the isle of Eilean Ban — home to British novelist Gavin Maxwell — arriving in Inverness in the evening.
We had enough luck to enjoy a day with little rain during most of the day. The trip was great and Alan was a great guide giving us perspective about Scotland's history and the main facts about the area and its inhabitants. We stopped in several spots along the way and had lunch at Perth which helped in not making the trip tough to bare. The Isle of Skye is beautiful and worth visit and I definitely recommend this tour and Alan as a guide.
I highly recommend this tour, had a great day seeing some of Scotland’s most breathtaking scenery.Bus was warm and comfortable,Alan our tour guide was amazing and gave us some amazing facts and history of the places we were seeing.Plenty of photo stops and time to explore.A great day out and can not recommend them enough. Will definitely do some more trips with them soon.
I booked this tour for my mother and myself as a day trip from Inverness. I chose it in part because of the number of places listed as sites on the tour. Our guide was Chris, and he was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and history, and gave interesting commentary throughout the day. He even worked in several additional stops, which was a real treat, above and beyond what we expected. He also arranged for us to stop and feed some Highland Cows, which we all really enjoyed. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to visit Isle of Skye for the day.
El guía muy simpático, demostraba mucha pasión por su trabajo estaba muy preparado y era muy muy amable. Lo único que cambiaría son las largar horas de autobús, haría una ruta más corta para evitar todas esas horas.
Went on this tour yesterday and it renewed my faith in coach tours! Having had a bad experience a couple of years ago in Inverness not on a Viator trip I must add this was a far better experience. I was travelling with my elderly mum and we had a brilliant day. Our guide Richard was fantastic. He was very very interesting and funny which made the 10 hour trip fly by. Would certainly recommend this trip and I will most certainly be using again.
This was a highlight, if not the best day, of my recent trip to Scotland. We had a packed bus but Alison was fantastic at keeping us all engaged and laughing and learning about Scottish history! The weather was a little cold and foggy but that just made all the places we saw that much more spectacular and made the photos more beautiful. Its a long day, but worth it because from start to finish there is beautiful scenery. Scotland is truly a stunning country. Thank you Alison for a wonderful day!
