Meet a driver at your Amman hotel for an 8am departure, then make the 66-mile (106-km) trip to Azraq Wetland Reserve in a climate-controlled vehicle. You’ll be crossing the broad Azraq Basin along the way, once a large wetland that’s been reduced dramatically over the years.
Upon arrival at Azraq Wetland Reserve, you can walk around on your own—there’s a 1-mile (1.6-km) pathway through the marshes that offers a perfect vantage point on bird habitat—and nature guides are also available onsite.
The birds you’ll see vary dramatically with the season, with especially good birding from December to April. Starting in May, it’s possible to spot large flocks of raptors, and there are even a few buffaloes in the marshiest parts of the wetlands.
Following your time at Azraq Wetland Reserve, meet back up with your driver for the return trip to Amman, where this tour concludes.
