This was the crown of our visit to Cochin! We met Dr. Varma and his fabulous wife and were given an overview of Ayurveda. We didn't know much going in, truth be told!. Within seconds of arriving, we were greeted so warmly and the learning curve took off from there. We couldn't help but hang off each and every word! We learned so much about the Dr., his medical practice, his travels, the food and the way to serve and eat it properly. We were so impressed with this course and the visit. They spent hours teaching, explaining every dish, showing us various foods that we had zero clue what they were before we took this course. We learned of the health benefits of the ingredients and simply had the BEST time ever! What an extreme pleasure this was!!! The value is beyond incredible and I can't speak highly enough of what anyone would gain from this experience. Thank you sincerely for allowing us to meet and learn from you! We will forever treasure this experience for the rest of our lives!
As a special note to anyone considering this course, make sure you take it at the start of your travels and not at thee nd... we would have LOVED to have booked a few more sessions but we were moving on the next day!! Secondly, because the doctor is active in his practise, if you do book, give them a few days notice.... Again, thank you to you both for the incredible day! It was an honour to meet you.
We had a fantastic time spending the day with Dr. Rajesh and his wife, Anu learning about Ayurvedic medicine and cooking. Upon arrival, Dr.Rajesh gave a comprehensive overview of Ayurvedic medicine, while also providing valuable insight into the particular 'dosha' category you fall into and how you should take care of and nourish your body accordingly come prepared with any specific questions you might have. It was an absolute delight cooking with Anu afterward our consultation with Rajesh. She is incredibly knowledgeable of all health benefits of each ingredient incorporated in all the recipes and makes sure to carefully show you the various cooking preparations that go into the making of the meal. The highlight of the day had to have been the post-cooking, sit down lunch with Rajesh and Anu - eating the fruits of all of our 'cooking' labor! It felt especially special having it all being in the intimate setting of their home. Both such kind individuals - Rajesh was even generous enough to drive us to a supermarket afterwards to pick up some special spices we had used during the cooking class.
Highly recommended if you have some time in Kochi and are interested in Ayurvedic medicine/cooking. also, without a doubt some of the best food we had during our whole trip in India!
