While docked in the Cochin cruise port, explore the city from your ship on this worry-free shore excursion. Depending on the date you book, follow one of three itineraries. Either, make a stop in Fort Kochi to see St. Francis Church, go on an adventure through the backwaters of Kerala during this houseboat tour, or cruise down a river in a houseboat, and visit the giant Chinese fishing nets.
Houseboat cruise in Aleppey
Take a houseboat cruise down a river in Kerala
Eat a traditional Keralan lunch onboard the boat (selected tours)
Stop in the Fort Kochi region to go exploring
See St. Francis Church and the Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica
Catch sight of the Chinese fishing nets near Fort Kochi Beach
Your shore excursion from Cochin begins with pickup from the cruise boat, where you board a tour vehicle for the drive to Alleppey (also known as Alapuzha). Depending on the date you travel, experience one of three itineraries.
Step aboard a houseboat for a leisurely sail through the inland waterways of Kerala. Relax as you glide past scenes of riverfront life, such as paddy fields, coconut palms, and traditional wooden houseboats. Enjoy attention from the onboard staff, who serve a traditional Keralan lunch of rice, fish, chicken, and vegetable dishes should you travel on the first itinerary.
At the end of your houseboat tour, go ashore near Fort Kochi to tour the area with a guide. See St. Francis Church, the Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica, and the Chinese fishing nets near Fort Kochi Beach before drop-off back at the cruise port.
The second itinerary you could follow encompasses the houseboat tour in the itinerary above, however, lunch is replaced by traditional snacks and tea and coffee. Fort Kochi is not visited on this itinerary.
Finally, if traveling on the third itinerary you receive a comprehensive tour of Cochin and Mattancherry. Visit the Dutch Palace built by Portuguese settlers and famous for its stunning murals depicting tales from Hinduism. Then, visit the Jewish Synagogue and stroll the Jewish quarter. Later, transfer to Fort Kochi for a short walking tour and visit St. Francis Church before being returned to the cruise ship terminal where your tour concludes.

We met our guide Jude at the cruise terminal. He was timely and helpful. There was a group of five of us. Jude was knowledgeable. He showed us many wonderful places. The highlight of tour for us was the cruise on the back waters on a houseboat. The food was delicious and the cruise on the lake was very relaxing. I would highly recommend this tour.
We had a very enjoyable day - we did all the advertised activities, plus on the way out to the lake the guide spotted an elephant ceremony at a temple and we stopped for some great photos. The houseboat tour was very interesting and the lunch provided was excellent. It would have been better if we could have seen the nets working even a demonstration but I guess we were there at the wrong time of day.
Overall a good tour very good guide and houseboat tour and lunch good however let down by minibus which was probably best available but seats were small and cramped causing both of us to get leg cramps
This was an amazing trip, met at the ship and taken on the tour in comfortable transport the ship did the same tour for 3 times the price The food on the houseboat was amazing, much better than expected, everyone cleared their plates and went up for seconds, a good look around the local area on our way back to the ship.
This tour is an absolute must do when visiting Cochin. The backwater houseboat tour gave an enlightening glimpse into everyday life along the backwaters. The houseboat was very comfortable and the lunch representative of the flavours of Kerala. On return to Cochin the tour also took us to the city's highlights which was a perfect way to conclude a wonderful day.
Thanks for the excellent review
Happy to know that you had a great tour and satisfied with our services
Looking Forward to serve you many more times in mere future
We had a great guide who spoke good English and answered lots of questions. The houseboat part of the tour was amazing. We did not do the 2nd day because of the extreme heat and didn't need to see temples. We saw the fishing nets from the ship which was interesting, but not enough to get out the 2nd day and see up close.
Our tour provider was Carnival Tours. The guide and bus was waiting for us at the cruise terminal, he spoke good English and was quite knowledgeable. The bus was in good condition and the ride to the houseboat is approximately 2 hours. The houseboat trip itself is a little long as the scenery is mostly the same as you cruise the canals. The lunch served on the houseboat was an authentic Indian meal of fish, chicken, and rice and was very tasty in our opinion. The tour of Fort Kochi was about 5 hours long and we certainly enjoyed that also. We were taken to the sights that are a must see for most tourist.
All in all it was en enjoyable day and half we would recommend it as a way to see and experience some of what Kochi has to offer.
