OVERVIEW: It's a place definitely worth visiting with a guide. Our guide was really great and very knowledgeable. Pick up was on time. You get a set of headphones connected to guide's microphone so you can hear everything she/he says without a problem. I have a hearing impairment and managed to hear every single word she said. It also feels respectful to the place (i.e. no shouting by different guides etc). WORTH KNOWING: I thought I'm booking a trip of 8 people, but it's only transfer of 8 people. You later join a bigger group (about 25 of us) to walk around the camps. I really wanted to avoid going in a big group, that's why I chose this tour. So was a bit disappointed that the description is not exactly pointing that out. If we wouldn't be provided with headphones, I would definitely struggle to hear. I didn't see any small groups walking around, just large groups like mine or individual people without a guide. But it's all organised very well and the guides are the official Auschwitz guides and historians. USEFUL TIPS: Wrap up if you go in the winter months! Its absolutely freezing! Also, make sure you pack your lunch and some drinks since the cafe there is extremely expensive (10zl for a KtiKat, 17zl for a drink, which is about 3x the regular price). I went to a local bakery in Krakow in the morning to grab us some fresh sandwiches. We left the food in the car to have it during the break between Auschwitz I and II.

Good experience. Well organised. Picked up in time. Guide at the camps was good and interesting. Not sure if I would buy the packed lunch again as cold sandwiches and fruit are not my thing. I’d probably buy from the kiosk in the morning break or take my own.

Very well organised visit. The site is a must for those who want to see what the crime of genocide means and how 20th century technology was used to implement it. Very helpful driver and excellent guide at the site.

This tour was amazing in a variety of ways. It further educated people in how these atrocities were committed and to never happen again. It was extremely emotional and can only serve to ensure future generations aware how this was to happen.

Left feeling very disappointed

First of all one toilet that you have to pay additional 2 zloty to use. Extortionate prices for food and drinks. We booked a tour with a guide which we thought would be a days visit, we spent 11/2 hours at Auschwitz and an hour at camp 2. No time for contemplation or reflection. This is not about commemorating the dead but more of an opportunity to profit. I am very sad that the awful wickedness of this period in history is further compounded by outright disrespectful profiteering

The driver (Igor), who transported us, was punctual, professional and friendly. He was very clear with instructions and setting expectations on what the plan was. He was also willing to answer any questions we had regarding Krakow and did more than just drive us back and forth.

Auschwitz-Birkenau Tour - Highly Recommend

With this being our first time visiting Poland, we wanted to ensure we paid our respects to the victims of the Holocaust. This tour made it easy for us to meet this goal. It provided a personal, front-door pickup by our driver -- followed by a 75-minute drive to the memorial sites from Krakow. During this drive, a 50-minute video is provided that gives footage taken when the concentration camp was liberated. The tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau is provided in two parts -- Auschwitz for 1.5 hours and then Birkenau for 1.5 hours with a very short break between them. We followed previous reviews to bring sandwiches/snacks during this break. There are places to eat at the memorial sites, but time is very limited. The tour itself was very informative with our tour guide providing detailed specifics throughout each location. We are providing 4 out of 5 stars because it is a crowded tour and appeared to be rushed. I would like to go back and walk through both sites at my own pace to allow for time to thoroughly read all museum placards. Afterwards, our driver dropped us at our hotel front steps. If you want an easy way for transportation to/from the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial sites with an informative guide, this tour meets the criteria.

Loved the tour/sites, but much too rushed.

The pickup was good and timely, the tours of Auschwitz-Birkenau were quite rushed and packed with other groups, but informative and very interesting. Really needed more time to take pictures, explore the sites, and visit the shops, but we were much too rushed through. Also, the guide once at Birkenau, did not use the headphones, so it was much more difficult to hear him. Was great to have the small lunch (at additional cost) that our guide got for us during the tour, but only had ten minutes with which to eat it and use the restrooms, etc. We were back at our hotel by around 3:30, so seemed like more time could be added and would make this much more enjoyable.
