I enjoyed the ride to and from the dive site with Wayan. He was great company, but the dive itself was awful. The dive guide didn't seem to want to be there, and when we were in the water he kept asking me to pose for photos. He spent so much time taking photos of the same uninteresting spots that I barely saw anything more than the camera. He also kept asking me to hold onto the coral which I'm sure kills it. We only went to the edge of the wreck and the tip of the coral. I didn't see any sunken statues, etc. I wish the guide would have asked ahead of time if I wanted this to be a photoshoot. The second we got back to the shop, they asked me to write a positive review in front of them. I felt pressured, and I think that's why this company gets such high reviews. I think some of the reviews might also be fake as all the ones with photos show the exact same photos even though they were posted months to a year apart. They seemed to have no business despite the dive spot being popular. I kept wishing I could switch to another dive company out there. When I complained, they said we didn't see anything because I was new to diving, but plenty of people go to this site with no experience and see much more.
I was asked on the drive up to the shop if I wanted to stop at a kopi luwak plantation. Once we got there, I was put on a tour and told that I should buy something. I realized later that the luwak plantation was fake. The luwak's are kept in cruel conditions which real luwak plantations don't do because luwaks need to be free ranging to pick the best coffee fruit. On the way back, I was asked if I wanted to stop at silver shops, so I think they might have deals with shops on the way to and from the dive site too.
My friends and I had a great time - it was the first time diving for most of us and the dive masters were brilliant. They split us off into smaller groups, 2 divers to 1 dive master, and they walked us through all the safety and key elements for the dive. They made sure to do it slowly to ensure we felt safe and comfortable even before entering the water. Under the water, they also checked in consistently and would stop at any stage to help with any issues.
During the dive itself, we got up close to the wreck, swam through it, saw lots of fish, coral, and other sea critters.
We loved our dive masters Baron and Mister Obama - they were SO much fun and took great care of us. Outside of teaching us to dive, they shared about local Indonesian culture.
It was a brilliant experience and well worth the time!
This tour was a highlight of our trip!!! We were picked up by a personal driver, Wayan Lesi, and enjoyed the drive along the coast of Bali to the dive site. Our driver was very safe and we felt at ease on the drive to and from the dive site.
Once there, our Dive Master, Ketut Harmawa, was extremely professional. The dive center was very clean and modern. All of the equipment was well maintained and organized. As a diver internationally, knowing the dive equipment was in good working order was very important to feel safe in the water.
The Dive Master was very thorough and did not rush the process to help my boyfriend who has never gone diving feel comfortable in the water. He stayed at his side the whole time while I an experienced diver stayed with them with the typical buddy system.
It was our choice to change one dive to the coral garden and I recommend it. The garden was sunk full of statues and the tropical fish at the shallower depths were abundant and beautiful! The corals were UNBELIEVABLE! It also gave my boyfriend a shallower dive to be comfortable with buoyancy in the water.
After a short rest we dove the USS Liberty. AMAZING DIVE! This was an easy dive for beginners as well as experienced divers. The corals attached to the wreck, the fish, and the beautiful color of water made this an incredibly dive.
Most importantly, the Dive Master and his son who assisted were paramount to a great dive. We rented their underwater camera and he took beautiful photos of us which was well worth the rental fee. His professionalism and the VIP treatment we received was superb. He and his son insisted on carrying all equipment and allowing us to simply rest and enjoy the entire experience.
I hope you enjoy these photos and highly recommend you book with this specific dive shop through Viator!
