Be ready for pickup at your Managua hotel around 8am, after which you'll climb into a comfortable tour vehicle for the 45-minute ride to Granada.
Once you arrive in Granada, visit the 18th-century Polvora Fortress, which served to protect the city from pirates. Continue down the city's main thoroughfare, Xalteva, to visit the churches of La Merced, Xalteva, and Maria Auxiliadora. Climb the belltower at La Merced to get panoramic views over the surrounding city, the lake, and Mombacho Volcano.
Stop by the Church and Convent of San Francisco to learn about its role in the war against William Walker, then have some free time for lunch (own expense).
After lunch, take a boat journey on Lake Nicaragua (also known as Cocibolca Lake), which is home to 365 tiny islets. Wind through the islets, learning about the flora and fauna that flourish in and around the lake, including the sawfish and the bull shark.
Return to land and travel back to Managua for drop-off.
