We were picked up on time from our hotel by Mohamed Chedaf our driver. The drive to the mountains took about an hour and ten picking up our guide, Omar Bousserhan, on the way. We stopped for a camel ride dressed like Lawrence of Arabia. Great fun. The mountain views and waterfalls were stunning.Better still was our walk up into a Berber village. We were invited in to Omar's sisters house and given mint tea. Great hopitality. The lunch was excellent. Delicious salads and chicken tagine.
We would thorouly recommend this trip. Thank you Omar!
Our guide Babala was great, able to tell us lots and answered our question about the atlas mountains and the beber way of life. He was very attentive to our needs, offering a helping hand over difficult obstacle on the trail up. He offered to take many pictures for us and the rest of the group. He also welcomed us to his family home for tea and again to understand how the beber villagers live. Our driver was equally helpful offering to take pictures at various stops on the way up the mountains and valleys. Both guides demonstrated good English language. As mentioned in other reviews, the trail was fairly steep and dinner wasn't until after 3pm so make sure you have a big breakfast or take some snacks and water with you and wear comfortable shoes. The lunch was very nice too so was worth the wait. We would definitely recommend this trip!
Akdax Hasan was great from the get go. Very organised as he set up his group effectively into the tourist cab on our trip to the Atlas Mountains. We stopped off at Tahannaout for the market and a brief history of the village, stopped of at a Argan Oil cafe/shop which we were welcomed to have mint tea and eat 3 of their delicious different argan oil dips with homemade bread. The best part was Akdax’s village, the views were one of the best my fiancé and I have seen. Whilst we were walking around the mountains Akdax Hasan knew the area like the back of his hand. The dromedary camel riding was so much fun! He was so approachable, friendly and knowledgeable and also has great photography and selfie skills. We would definitely recommend this tour and Akdax Hasan again. Also the driver was very pleasant!
An Experience that will stay with me for a lifetime -
, Aug 2019
WOW. What a a beautiful, memorable, moving trip. As I mentioned in my title, this entire day and experience will stay with me for a lifetime. It surpassed all expectations. It delivers everything in the description and more. This really was a highlight of our trip and was an amazing experience - to see and feel the Atlas Mountains and the villages within them is so special. It was made all the more special by our wonderful, brilliant guide Hassan Imodn. He truly made the experience even better, was lovely to chat to and very informative. He also very kindly took us into his home where we shared tea and for me that was so special. He's a lovely soul and couldn't do enough for us. If you do this Trip, which I would highly recommend, you want him a your guide. Thank you Imran and to our fantastic driver Lhcen, he too was brilliant and looked after us all the way there and back. Peace and Love x
Karim was an outstanding guide - he looked after us very well and was espescially hospitable when an unexpected rainstorm delayed our return home. He took us to his sister's house to share some mint tea.
I had a great time on this visit. The trip took a full day and I was greeted by my driver Kamel (spelling may be off) and he was a great and friendly resources through the day. The valleys were gorgeous and the activities gave me a deeper sense of the Berber community that exists in Morocco. Abraheim (spelling may be off) was also a great tour guide and welcomed us into his home and community with great food, tea, and refreshments along the way. I am thankful to have went on this tour and highly recommend for folks wanting to get away from the city for a day!
I highly recommend both a trip to the Altlas Mountains and going through this tour operator! We were picked-up in the morning near our Riad, a despite booking the trip the night before - the logistics went smoothly. The trip began with a 20min drive and a short stop to ride camels. Nothing super special but still fun. We then made another stop at an argan oil cooperative which was nice and more affordable than other similar cooperatives I've visited. As we approached the Mountains, we made multiple stops for photos and saw a beautiful old Berber-Jewish village in the hillside. The driver was kind, pointed out different sites to us, and stopped to show us different views. After about 2hrs of driving, we arrived in Imlil where we met our guide for the rest of the day, Omar.
Omar took us on a 1.5hr-2hr hike through multiple Berber villages and a waterfall. The hike itself should be accessible to most people unless you have any specific health conditions or walking constraints. With the exception of two 15min periods where the hike was steeper, most of the walk was relatively flat. Additionally, Omar kept a good pace, with plenty of quick breaks, frequent check-ins on how we were doing, and a quick stop for tea. Omar was also very friendly and provided good company to the small group. Throughout the hike we saw beautiful mountain passes and villages ticked in between valleys - it was great! The hike ends with a late afternoon lunch at a Berber guest house. The food was quite good and the lunch restful. Overall, a great day trip for anyone looking to escape the chaotic Marrakech medina!
With more than 1800 reviews we were excited to go on this tour and I must say our guides Omar and Hassan were phenomenal. However, the description of a short hike and the reality were very different. We hiked for 4 hours, stopping intermittently, for more than 5 miles. There were no donkeys available as the description said. Additionally, while lunch was provided, because the hike took 4 hours we didn't ultimately eat "lunch" until 15:30. I ended up getting heat stroke due to the extensive hike and missed a while day of my trip.
Finally, riding the camel was an experience but we saw one group riding literally at the base of the mountains whereas our ride was about 15 minutes from Marrakech.
It was beautiful scenery but the logistics weren't adequately coordinated.
Great day in Atlas Mountains with guide Mohammed Larbic
, Aug 2019
We had great day in the beautiful Atlas Mountains with our friendly guide Mohammed Larbic
We had a delicious lunch with fresh mountain produce.
Stopped in his cousins house for Moroccan whiskey aka mint tea.
We were shown true berber hospitality.
Overall really great day.
We had a really great time on this tour even though it was a really long hike! My sister and five year old ended up taking a mule but had a great time. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He served us tea in his home where we met his lovely wife. Lunch was amazing at a local restaurant. I would highly recommend.
