Explore Pisa and Lucca on a day trip from Montecatini, and climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa. On a walking tour of Piazza dei Miracoli, you’ll learn the history behind Pisa Duomo and Camposanto Cemetery among other monuments. Admire vistas from the top of the tower, and sample the local wine in a Pisa wine shop. Then, travel to Lucca to walk around its historic city walls at your leisure. Entrance fees to the Leaning Tower of Pisa are at your own expense.
Make your own way to Piazza Italia in Montecatini at 10am. Meet your guide and travel out of the town into the Tuscan countryside.
Your first stop is Pisa, a city that’s famous as the home of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Take photos in front of the iconic monument that’s listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll around Piazza dei Miracoli, where the tower sits, and admire other landmarks such as the Baptistery and Camposanto Cemetery. Entrance to Pisa Duomo is also included.
Call in at an enoteca to sample some of the local wine, and enjoy a light lunch at a location nearby (own expense). With your appetite sated, you’ll then climb the steps of the iconic tower to soak up views from the top.
Continue to the city of Lucca, and take advantage of some free time to explore at your own pace. Perhaps stroll around the enchanting city walls, and gaze out over the terracotta roofs of Lucca’s palazzi and churches. Wander along the narrow streets, and explore the shops and cafes of the historic center.
Later, return to your transport for the journey back to Montecatini. Your day trip ends with a drop-off at the start point around 7pm.
