  • See arches and other rock formations used in films and other media
  • Hear stories about the area from your guide
  • Choice of departure times when booking
After pickup from select hotels, your tour begins through Monument Valley's natural attractions.

With your guide, make your first stop at John Ford's Point, where some of John Wayne's western movies were filmed, as well as Transformers: Age of Extinction. Then head into the backcountry area of Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park to see the Sun's Eye Arch. Standing here at a specific degree, you can look into the rock arch to find out how it got its name. Also at this location, check out petroglyphs from the Anasazi people and listen to stories from your guide.

Then continue to the Big Hogan, another natural feature that's a favorite photo op site, before stopping at your last backcountry attraction, the Ear of the Wind, the largest arch in the park.

Next, head to the Totem Pole and Yei Bi Cheii monuments for more photo ops and to hear about their cultural histories, and then visit the North Window, where you can admire the Mitten Butte from a different perspective. Your tour then ends with return to your departure point.

Please note: Guides are locals who have been praised for their storytelling skills and are first aid- and CPR-certified. Water is available but it's recommended that you bring your own snacks and other necessities.

Derek was amazing...answered all of our questions and educated us on the Navajo people and their lands. He brought us to a cool archway and played a native American song for us on his flute.

Great tour, our guide was very knowledgeable about Monument Valley and its history. We also got to go to some areas you can't go to on your own and our guide played us some traditional Navajo music on a flute and also sang us a traditional Navajo song. This tour was more than we expected, my wife and 2 daughters also loved it, would highly recommend.

The tour was amazing, our guide was exceptional and we saw so much more than if we did it ourselves since the native guides have access to places the public does notl

Ray, our tour guide, was great. He gave us a lot of interesting information regarding the Navajo people, as well as showing us the most scenic places for photography. My husband and I were the only ones on our tour, which made it even better. The scenery was just beautiful!

This was the best tour imaginable! We did not know what to expect, but our trip was unique because we asked for a covered tour since we are allergic to lots of dust. We saw everything in a covered Rubicon Jeep. Our tour guide was Stephan and he is an expert on not only Monument Valley but the customs and traditions and history of the Navajo people. His insight brought to life all of the sites we saw. He also wove into the stories some tales of the western movies filmed in the area. We recommended this trip to everyone we saw after we left Monument Valley.

Angela was our tour guide, she arrived on time to pick us up for our tour. we ended up having a private tour as there was no one else schedule at that time period. The tour was fabulous, Angela knew everything on the history of Monument Valley. We went into the back country where you can not drive your own private car. We stopped multiple times for pictures and information on each of the monuments. We would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to know the history.
This was my husbands favorite are to remember back to the western tv shows.

We enjoyed our tour of Monument Valley very much. Steven was our tour guide and he did a wonderful job of explaining the different sites, giving us history of the area, and some interesting insight into the Navajo culture and traditions. We are so glad that we used the services provided to make our visit memorable. He allowed plenty of time for questions, pictures and made our visit a fun memory-thank you.

We loved it, sitting up high on the back of the vehicle we had a great view and our our guide John gave us an expert commentary. We took the 2.5 hour tour with Dineh Bekeyah which went into a closed area of the park. One place John took us to was the Eagle's Eye, and he played a Navaho flute there and with the natural acoustics effect there it was amazing to hear such a song from just one flute. It was also good to just concentrate on seeing and experiencing Monument Valley without having to drive too, people who were using their own vehicles to see the first part of the park didn't seem to be having much fun as they bumped along the unsealed road.
