Overview

See some of the remarkable Buddhist monuments of Bagan, whose some 2,500 temples, stupas, and monasteries are inscribed on the World Heritage list by UNESCO. On this private 4-hour tour you'll learn about the Kingdom of Pagan that rose to glory in the early 11th century. See these awe-inspiring architectural wonders in the afternoon with a private guide and driver.
  • Half-day private tour of Bagan temples
  • Visit Shwezigon Pagoda, Gubyaukgyi Temple, Ananda Temple, and Shwesandaw Pagoda
  • Sunset views over the Irrawaddy (Ayeyarwady) River
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off by private vehicle
Meet your personal guide and driver at your hotel lobby in the afternoon, and settle in the comfort of your private vehicle for a 4-hour tour of several significant religious sites in and around UNESCO-listed Bagan.
The Shwezigon Pagoda, or Shwezigon Paya, is your first stop. This Buddhist temple located outside Bagan was built in the early 11th century as a Burmese shrine. Marvel at the gilded stupa painted in gold leaf before moving on to see the superb murals of Jataka scenes featured at the Gubyaukgyi Temple.
Then stop by the ruins of Bu Lei Thee Pagoda. From this viewing platform you're treated to splendid vistas of temples and pagodas that dot the plain below. Venturing onward you'll come to the Ananda Temple, one of four well-preserved temples remaining in Bagan, featuring four magnificent standing Buddha images.
Shwesandaw Pagoda is your final stop. To reach the top of the temple, visitors are required to climb some steep stairs, but the sunset views over the Irrawaddy (Ayeyarwady) River are worth it. Afterward, you're returned to your hotel in Bagan.

Tour was good but only offered in the afternoon, probably because of the amazing grand sunset view at the last temple, however it's the hottest part of the day. Tour made a great selection of the best, major temples to view, even making flexible changes, and adding temples, to improve the experience. We could go pretty anywhere we wanted and stay as long or short as we wanted. Note that the Bagan archaeological zone ticket is not included in the tour so should be purchased at airport or elsewhere before the tour. Tour was quite expensive for not including this ticket, but as said we had a great time and therefore still recommend it if you don't feel like exploring on your own, and want to make the most of 4 hours.
