Meet a guide at the Naples port at 8am, then board the high-speed hydrofoil for the trip across the Gulf of Naples. The trip to the island is roughly 18 miles (30 km.) from Naples, and takes approximately one hour, with gorgeous views across the gulf throughout the journey.
Upon arrival on Ischia, a private car will meet you for the trip to the first stop of the day, a colorful garden where you’ll pause for a coffee and sfugliatella, a flaky pastry that’s a local specialty.
From there, continue to Ischia Ponte to see the village of Celsa and the Aragonese Castle of Ischia, which dominates a rocky islet off the island’s coast. Visit a small vegetable and fruit stand to taste the island’s seasonal produce, then stop into the oldest bakery on Ischia to sample warm bread with mortadella, traditional Italian sausage.
Visit the picture-perfect beach of Cartaromana, then head to Fontana, Ischia’s smallest and highest town, where you’ll dine on a specialty pasta dish and wine in a local restaurant. After lunch, take in the steaming volcanic fumarole, then wrap up the tour on a sweet note with a dessert, a glass of sweet vin santo wine and ice cream in Sant’Angelo, a pretty fishing village with a small harbor.
This tour concludes with return transfer to Naples by hydrofoil.
