AVOID VIATOR AT ALL COSTS

, Oct 2019
VIATOR is a scam!!! They are owned by TRIPADVISOR therefore any "great" reviews you read on TRIPADVISOR are bias and unfair. When I called VIATOR to ask questions it was a constant "hard sell" which is annoying. I finally received enough answers, and along with great reviews on tripadvisor, booked the tour for myself and 3 friends. The morning of the tour we made the subway trip into Manhattan from Brooklyn to meet at the appointed location listing in ALL OF VIATOR WEBSITES to begin our tour. What we found was a boarded up storefront with some old notices posted that informed duped customers such as myself that they had moved (from the age of the notices, they had moved quite some time ago). No directions nor map to guide you to the new location. Luckily we were early enough that we found the new location, SEVERAL LONG BLOCKS AWAY, and arrive in time. I went inside and got in line to check in and when I made it to the counter representative she was rude and disinterested from the start. I showed her my paperwork that I had printed from home after making the reservations and she simply said "the tour is not operating today. It is cancelled. It's a jewish holiday." I had to ask her what my options were and she said that she could reschedule us for another day. I tried to explain to her that we were VISITORS and rescheduling was not an option as we were headed back home and I requested a refund. She told me to get in another line and talk to the guy at another counter, which I did. This dude was just another RUDE VIATOR hack who at first told me I was in the wrong line and when he finally listened to why I had bothered him for some assistance he simply said "I can't help you, you need to talk to the people you booked your tour thorough." So I walked out, called my CC company and reported the charge as fraud and informed my travelmates (2 of whom were first time NYC visitors and was relying on this tour to give them a quick and broad view of the city) that this LOUSY COMPANY had just scammed us and ruined their sightseeing part of the NYC trip since it was too late to book another tour. If VIATOR can operate on the scale that they do and hard sell their services anytime that you call for information; WHY CAN'T THEY POST THE CORRECT ADDRESS ON THEIR WEBPAGE?! Since VIATOR has obviously moved locations; WHY CAN'T THEY PROVIDE NOTICE AND DIRECTIONS TO THEIR CURRENT LOCATION?! If VIATOR cancels a tour; WHY DON"T THEY USE THE CUSTOMER INFORMATION (PHONE NUMBER,

Tour van was very crowded, uncomfortable, and hard to get in and out of...you would think the tour operators would have a portable step. Tour guide got a little too much with his singing and constant talking about things that were not related to the tour. I gave the tour 3 stars but would not recommend it to others.

ABsolute WORST experience ever! We were suppose to be in a luxury enclosed coach and we were on a double decker hop on hop off bus, and it was extremely cold for August which made it very up pleasant. We were told that they had the right to provide us with any vehicle they chose even though it wasn't what we were sold in the description and we received no compensation, the Grey line staff was yelling at the customers. Additionally, we left almost an hour late. The tour guide was terrible, not very knowledgeable,,difficult to understand. Some of the poor circumstances could have been mitigated with some friendly, accommodating customer service, yet there was none to be found.

Tour was very complete and enjoyable. Tour guide Dean and driver both did an excellent job of escorting us around much of Manhattan. Dean's knowledge of the history of New York City and each of the sights really added to the experience. My tour was a small group of six -- family of five and myself. Everyone stayed together and we were able to keep on schedule in spite of the traffic difficulties of the city. All sites were visited as advertised. Our tour guide spent some extra time at Grant's tomb covering New York's participation in the Civil War. Also, Dean gave us quite a bit of background on the Five Points area and background on the Gangs of New York movie. Cruise around the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge and up the Hudson was very nice. The day finished off with a visit to the Top of the Rock for some great views of New York City. Lunch on our own was at Brookfield Mall near the 911 memorial. Dean gave us a number of options and recommendations for lunch. Overall, a great tour well worth the price.
