We were a family of four with two older teenagers. When we booked this tour, I wasn't sure how interested they would be in this kind of thing . Peter made the tour fun and very informative. There were lots of "bonus facts" and quizes. We were fascinated how the authors linked in with each other. The Harry Potter gown, hat and wand were a big hit ( with one daughter!) who kept it on all the tour. This really made the photos special. Both the girls and adults thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon . When we booked, we thought it was quite expensive, but actually, the tour was well worth it. We were not rushed, and the whole tour ended up taking 3 hours. Peter was happy to answer questions and was very knowledgeable about both Oxford , Harry Potter and famous Oxford authors. We are now planning a return visit and intend to do another tour.

Hi Mandy, Such a lovely recommendation. This means a lot to us to receive such kind feedback. On behalf of Peter and from myself, thanks for booking our tour and sharing your experience. If indeed you are returning to Oxford again soon, then we look fwd to hopefully see you again then. By the way, you are right that unfortunately the Christchurch tour is indeed an expensive tour to book and I am sorry that's the case but it is also a very expensive tour to run- for example entry fees are worth £16 per child and £17 per adult. Viator also take 20% commission of the value of the tickets which you booked. Then I also have to pay 20% VAT tax on what we receive (not 20% on the profit). That said, our main Harry Potter tour is actually not the Christchurch- it is instead the New college tour and that costs £30 per adult and £25 per child, whereas the Christchurch tour costs £50 per adult and £35 per child. Anyway thanks for choosing us and hopefully see you again. Sincerely, Alasdair, Visit Oxford Tours Ltd

This was the best tour we’ve ever been on! Peter was amazing! You will not regret booking this tour- so many fun facts! If we would of been thinking straight we would of just followed Peter to his next tour destination. It really was such a lovely tour I can’t say enough about how great it was!

Beautiful rainy day in Oxford

Oxford City and University Walking Tour with College Visits | Feb 2020
My husband and I took the Walking Tour of Central Oxford including Oxford University. Our guide was Monika who is a charming speaker and a trained historian. Her talk had all the elements of good history, good tour guiding and a fresh sense of humor. In just an hour and 45 minutes we got a lesson in how the University works, how the town grew up simultaneously, where the secret symbols that inspired famous literary characters were hidden in plain sight, where famous writers met to have a pint and talk with colleagues. The weather was terrible, but the show went on. I applaud Monika, the tour company and the city of Oxford. We recommend this tour is very highly.

Mixed experience

'Inspector Morse' Filming Locations Tour in Oxford with College Visits | Jan 2020
Firstly the tour guide was late and had no identification despite what the website had said. Instead of greeting us the first thing he did was to demand to see our tickets. When I produced this he turned his back on me and began speaking to someone else and never saw my ticket. The tour itself was good and informative, he had much interesting knowledge about the history of Oxford. We had booked a tour of Inspector Morse filming sites. He spent more time talking about Harry Potter, we did not book a tour about a children’s film. This was bizarre. When we got to the part to visit the Randolph hotel he spent much time describing what poor condition the hotel was in despite the fact that he knew that 2 of our party were staying there. He even said to them that they should not pay more than £150 a night for this place, to which they replied that they had paid considerably more. Overall we enjoyed the tour but it was missold due to so much Harry Potter which we have no interest in whatsoever and would not have booked this. He also kept telling me which buildings to look at and actually told me off at one point for looking at another. He also asked me several times to try and knock down a lampost to show how strong it was. I have severe arthritis.

Oxford - Guided walking tour

Oxford City and University Walking Tour with College Visits | Dec 2019
We had a very interesting and fun walking tour in Oxford with Renata (I hope I remember her name well) last Saturday! We got to know a lot of exciting facts and stories about Oxford, the university life, some secret stories and we also learnt a lot about the city's history. We had a great time and I would absolutely recommend to all to take the tour!

Very Few Filming Locations

New College Harry Potter Filming Locations Tour in Oxford | Oct 2019
The tour is more about the inspiration JK Rowlings received from Oxford more than the actual sites of filming. The majority of the tour was about "This is what inspired her", "This is where the crew came to get ideas for building the sets", etc. During the 2 hour tour, we saw 1 filming location. Save the money and do a self guided tour.

The guide was great, & I wouldn’t have seen some of the sight without going on the tour. Some of the colleges were closed re graduation but the tour was still worth it.

More than Skip the Queue

Afternoon Christ Church Harry Potter Film Sites Tour | Jul 2019
We originally booked this tour to skip the queue at Christchurch. However, the tour provided much more than this single benefit. Our excellent guide, Andrew, led us on a walk around the city, highlighting (as promised) many literary topics associated with Oxford - like Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland and C. S. Lewis. We also saw the architecture of Oxford through a local lens. Andrew had an ideal mix of knowledge, humor and willingness to help us get the best possible experience. Best of all - he offered to take multiple photos for us at scenic spots along the way. We highly recommend this tour to others.

Oxford City and University Walking Tour with College Visits | Apr 2019
