WONDERFUL

I have never had an experience like this before. Traveling down the Chargis river listening to the guides communicate was a very unique experience. The people at the village were welcoming and enthusiastic. Lunch was served in a papaya leave and very tasty. I strongly recommend this tour. Beautiful handicrafts are available to purchase at reasonable prices, well worth it. This tour operator goes above and beyond as well as very knowledgeable and informative about Panama. Well worth the cost for a once in a life time experience

Worth the Experience

I would like to give a higher rating because the villagers were to nice and engaging; however, I became extremely ill after eating the fish and plantains there. If you have a sensitive digestive system, stick with the fresh fruit. The history of the Embera, shared by a leader, was informative. There were beautiful handmade crafts but prices were exorbitant. The entertainment was quaint. There were different names for the dances, but they were all the same: basically moving in a circle. The dugout canoes were authentic. The benches on them were extremely low, which would not have been a problem if the distance had not been so long. I don't recommend the ride for people with knee or back problems. Also, the canoe leaked and someone had to bail water out with a pan. Despite those issue (except for the diarrhea), I am glad that we went and had a chance to see rustic lives of the Embera.

You will not be disappointed with this tour. If you are thinking about going on this tour, fit it into your schedule. Pick-up is prompt. Jerin is a great tour guide as well as professional, friendly, personable with excellent hospitality and immense knowledge of the area. I highly suggest this tour as it will give you a great experience with the Embera people who are very welcoming and extremely friendly. This tour gives you the opportunity learn about the Embera culture and their way of life. The boat ride to the village is awesome with beautiful scenery. You even have an opportunity to take a swim in the river below the village which is extremely enjoyable and refreshing.

Hearing about the local culture was the highlight, although it has to be difficult for the people to give up their natural life style just because the area became a national park and their ways of life were outlawed. The dance performance, introduction, chance to see a kitchen, lunch, craft sale, buildings, and boat ride to get to the village made the day extra special.

One of the must have tour in Panama! It was wonderful to get out of the city and canall to see the unsophisticated village life. It was great experience journey up the Charges River in the transitional canoe, walked thru the knee high water to the water fall in the forest. Just love it! Highly recommended.
