Nice one day tour to the Capitol
Mette_P, Jan 2023
Well coordinated tour. The only thing missing was a couple of hours on your own. The description fits what you get.

A tour of just the right length. Good tour guide.
Nidhi_G, Jan 2023
A 7 hour tour, we were picked up and dropped promptly. Bus turned out to be a large van, so it could navigate the old city, so that was fine. Tour guide was excellent.
Excellent tour, informative guide, enjoyed lunch
Vasudevan_S, Dec 2022
Excellent tour. Comfortable bus ride and punctual. Very good historical and cultural tour of the city. Our guide Frank Vasquez of Runners Adventures was very informative and made the trip relaxed and enjoyable. They provided a delicious lunch with vegetarian options at a nice restaurant.

Started with a 3 hour bus ride on a smaller sized bus; ride was a bit cramped but once in Santo Domingo, there is no way a bigger bus could get around, so just a product of requirements. Stopped at an award winning chocolate factory on the way there for a restroom break and some shopping. Tip: Don't buy anything yet, because this is a stop on the return trip as well, and having chocolate with you for the hot couple of hours while in the city will note work well for the chocolate! Drove up to and stopped for pictures at the Dominican Christopher Columbus mausoleum, which is absolutely ginormous. Then drove into the city and started a walking tour of old town. The starting activity was a 4D theater show of the history of Santo Domingo, which I could have done without, but there was air conditioning so that was a nice relief. Walked through the town to the Basilica, which was pretty good, especially if you've never seen one. I will now bring up the negative from this trip: We booked English, but perhaps because we were off season or something, there were only 5 English speakers out of the group of 25. I don't speak Spanish, but the tour guide would talk for 15 minutes in Spanish about certain things but then would only say two sentences in English. My wife speaks Spanish and she had to then translate. There was so much not spoken in English that it seem the bare minimum to just get enough information out about the city and history. This is okay for a visual tour, but when you bring in history and have to give explanations of what things are and why things are a certain way, the English descriptions were significantly lacking. After the Basilica, then it was on to lunch: a buffet style in a small restaurant, which was just as good as all the other food I ate while in the Dominican Republic and the restaurant that we were at had some employees give an awesome demonstration dance in traditional outfits. After lunch was the tour of Diego Columbus' residence/official working building. Once again, the Spanish-English translation was severely lacking and I wish I could have understood more. Finally, back on the bus with a restroom break/shopping opportunity at the chocolate factory. BUY the chocolate! It is SO GOOD!
Safe way to see the capital

Great way to see the old part of the city as a solo traveler. Tour guide was excellent with lots of info (also trilingual) Wish we had been able to see some of the modern day life activity as well.

What a wonderful experience
Uloaku_A, May 2022
Everything was spot on. Pick up was on time, and the transition from the coaster bus to the luxurious bus was seamless. Our driver, Enriquez did a phenomenal job of navigating through the narrow streets of Santo Domingo. Darius, our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the landmark. I could tell that he was very passionate about his job. The entire tour team paid close attention to the guest to ensure our safety while touring and crossing the streets of Santo Domingo. I was skeptical about this tour because I am pregnant, but I am so happy that I did it. This tour is a must-do if you are in the area!!!

Interesting but long day
Bruce_K, May 2022
Though interesting thanks to our guide Darius, this made for a very long day with several hours each way on a nice commercial bus. I had read reviews that this was a must do activity and though I am now glad we did it, I don't think 11 hour day would be something I do again.
Nikola_B, May 2022
It was OK, but nothing more than that. Trip is a little bit overpriced, because you are visiting only Alcázar and couple of streets in the neighborhood.

Great day!!!
TAMMY_L, Mar 2022
We toured with Dario - absolutely AWESOME day. He is a great guide, full of personality. He stayed with us the whole day and shared his knowledge. We met with a chocolate maker and a jewerly making store. While they would like you to purchase, there was no heavy sales tactics - we were never rushed. Would definitely suggest that you request Dario and Enrique as your guides.

Very little tour given
Fozzie999, Mar 2022
To start with we were picked up at 6.30am then spent 1hr going to 6 other hotels before leaving to go to Santo Domingo. It would have been nice to know that was going to happen. It was the same for the drop off, 6 hotel drop offs before ours. The tour itself was 70% in Spanish, so I didn't understand a lot of it. It would have been nice to know that was going to happen. The tour should have been in 100% English then a separate tour for the other languages. Normally on a city tour you would expect a lot of explanation of the city and a walk around the main areas. On this tour there was very limited commentary on the city. One thing we didnt appreciate was being guided to 3 souvenir shops as part of the tour! In total we spent an hour in souvenir shops. Clearly the guides were getting commission if we bought anything, we were not impressed by this at all. Overall we were disappointed with the tour.

It was an okay tour. I wasn’t blown away by it and considering the $100 price tag for the excursion…It was not worth it IN MY OPINION.

Wonderful trip
Ada_R, Feb 2022
Very educational and informative trip. Mincy is a knowledgable person and can present information on a funny and entertaining manner. Liked the walk through colonial town. Lunch was ok but not much of a social distancing. Well planned, well organized, would recommend this trip . Perez is a professional driver.

Great Tour
Lucy_R, Feb 2022
It was a great tour. Super educational. Darius was a great guide and Enrique a great driver. Even the helper guide Alex was great. It was a long with a couple of stops along the way for folks to stretch and use the restroom. Definitely recommend Runners Adventures.
Decent toiro, though a little boring
Lijen_L, Feb 2022
The colonial area was lovely. The guide was full of facts and stories. I wish we'd had a bit more free time to explore. We were mostly shuttled between museums and then to lunch. Overall our guide and driver were quite good. I wish we'd spent more time exploring the streets of the old town and learning a bit about local life and a bit less time in museums where we either listened to pre-recorded audio or had one of the museum guides leading us. I could have paid for that separately myself and not needed this tour. But the tour itself was not bad. Probably just my fault for having different expectations.

Santo Domingo Tour
Jhoeland_M, Jan 2022
The historical significance of the place is not to be missed. We were a large group and didn’t get really the chance to soak in the history of Diego Columbus’s house since we were so cramped. Social distancing should be observed during lunch. Less souvenir shops more of Santo Domingo.
