What To Expect

Roar across Lake Wakatipu and down the Kawarau and Shotover rivers on a 1-hour adrenaline-pumping jet-boat adventure, departing from the main pier in central Queenstown. After you receive wet-weather gear, a life jacket and a safety briefing, hold on for the 27-mile (45-km) jet-boat ride down some of New Zealand’s most scenic waterways.

First, zoom across pristine Lake Wakatipu and look up at the majestic Remarkables mountain range. From the mouth of the Kawarau River, glide past the Kawarau Dam and prepare for 360-degree spins before your driver expertly navigates the fast-moving currents of the narrow channels of the Shotover River, gaining speeds up to 59 mph (95 kph) in shallow water.

The captain of the boat was super skilled and very friendly and inclusive. It was thrilling. Got wet, but who cares, you are in water. It was the highlight of Queenstown for me and my husband.

This was probably the best hour I’ve spent on a speed boat; such a nice/quick fun thing to do especially for sights & the thrill of a speed boat. You get a bit wet depending on where you sit but I couldn’t have done this in a more beautiful spot!

Fantastic exoerience/ride. Our driver(sorry either Jack/Jake) was full of interesting facts and made us feel safe despite the thrill of the ride 🤣. Did this with my two adult children and they were smiling the whole time. Would highly recommend!

Fun ride for the whole family

My father highly recommended a jet boat ride, so I booked one here on Viator with KJet. My 6 year old son thought it looked really fun from shore, but felt a bit apprehensive when he was aboard. The captain was very professional and focused on safety. In the end, my son had a blast as did my wife and I. I would just suggest having sunglasses or other eyewear as the high speeds can make your eyes uncomfortable without them.

Boatloads of fun with Spectacular 360 spin and stunts but done safely with clear sign notice of what stunt is to come so that every one was prepared. You do get little bit of splash, so be prepared to get wet with either water proof dress or a poncho.

It's a must try adventure. We tried it first time. My boys age 6 & 11 had an absolutely amazing time at jet boat ride.Had very trained people at riding the boat who make sure at every stage we are comfortable and enjoying our ride.Highly recommended.
