It was a surprise to find out that the tour began with a motorbike ride to the top of the mountain. The driver was excellent. My husband and I are over 70 and we were at ease. Our guide Carlos was excellent. He was born and grew up in the Favela. The tour was an eye opener. Everyone was friendly and made us feel welcomed and safe. Thanks

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. This is a must see. I will recommend it to anyone visiting Rio. Our tour guide was amazing and we had great time during our time walking through the Favelas. 10/10 experience!
A Must-Have Experience in Rio

This was the most important experience during my time in Rio. I was fortunate to be guided by Pablo, and he was extremely knowledgeable on all aspects pertaining to Rocinha. It is easy to allow outside influences to cloud your perspective(s) on what life in a favela may be and/or look like. That said, it's important to learn for yourself, and the best way to do so is through this guided tour. You will feel the immense hospitality and sense of community while touring. I thank the Favela Brothers for sharing their community.

Since we have visited the main sights (Corcovado, Sugar Loaf) in previous tours, we wanted to try something different. A Private walking Tour of Rocinha. We really enjoyed our Rocinha Tour with Roberto! First of all, Roberto is fluent in English and Portuguese which helped me (English speaking) and my father in-law (Português speaking). Roberto was very knowledgeable about the social economic conditions and cultural history of Rocinha. He also showed us some of the most amazing views in all of Rio. Overall a tour we are very happy to have experienced. Next up.. Helicopter Tour.

We loved spending the afternoon with our tour guide Pablo, he was awesome!! One of our favorite things we did in Rio for sure!! Loved riding a motorcycle to the top of Rocinha…so cool and the views were incredible!! Such an educational experience as well!! Can’t recommend this enough!!

Great to see all parts of Rio , no problem walking around but it rained so views down were limited. Our guide was very good showed us where he lived and felt quite safe

Awesome!! I can't explain in words how Great Obie was... he was very informative, patient and Kind! We felt more than safe while touring with Obie... we got a chance to meet His Beautiful Mother and Sister! Misunderstood side of Rio

Safe, humbling, historical...these are just a few words I would use to describe the Favela of Rocinha. The Faneca Brothers tour group did a fantastic job handling our schedule and devoting their time to my group and I. Growing up and living there to this day gave an insight most "outsiders" don't understand. If I would have left Rio without doing this I believe I would have missed out on a unique cultural experience. Please take the time to view Rio from a different perspective!

Excellent overview of life in a favela - something every tourist should experience! Obi was a magnificent guide and provided abundant insight into what everyday life was like in his home favela. He encouraged us to ask any question we had and enthusiastically answered us. He also provided a glimpse into his own dwelling. Do this tour - you won’t be disappointed and it’s completely safe.

The tour was absolutely amazing. Obi Wan was very knowledgeable, personable, and planned an extensive tour that included the history, great photo shots, food and even a show at the end. During the tour, we saw how people live, their churches, the stores, etc. The tour was the real deal and we were 100% safe throughout the entire tour. The tour is about 3 hours so you do need to dress in comfortable shoes/clothing and be in reasonable health. Much older people might have a little trouble navigating some of the areas. Highly recommended !
Walking tour under the rain

Besides being a horrible raining day, Obi didnt asked for a cancel and I did the tour. He lives there in Rocinha and is pretty knowledgeable of how the favelas works in Rio. I went to his house, we ate something local, bought some souvenir from a local artist, participated on a capoeira show etc, all while answering my questions and going through the favela.

Obi was a great tour guide, we walked from the top to the bottom of the favela, stopping off at some amazing points to see the views. Felt very safe with Obi and he spoke excellent English, would recommend to everyone.

It was conducted by one person who live in favela who showed us favela and took to his house and showed how people live . It was rather Favela home visit . It is not suitable for disabled as there is hill walking and walking into narrow alleyways which is some time intimidating Tour was not worth of the prize .Tour was about 2 hours . There was no showing of art work and history It was not professional tour
