Eat and drink your way around Rome on an evening food tour of the city center and Trastevere. In a small group of no more than 12 people, you’ll learn about Rome’s cuisine through the ages, get tips for places to eat, and sample some of the finest food in town. The 4-hour tour is done by foot, and includes ample food samples, supper in a Trastevere restaurant, and a locally made gelato.
  • 4-hour small-group food tour of Rome
  • Explore Campo de’ Fiori and the city center with a guide
  • Enjoy salami, salted cod, artisan cheese, pizza, and more
  • Stop for supper in an atmospheric Trastevere eatery
  • Finish with fresh gelato in an authentic gelateria
  • Enjoy personalized attention in a small group limited to 12 people
Meet your guide in front of Ristorante La Carbonara in Rome’s Campo de’ Fiori at 5:15pm to start your 5:30pm walking tour. With your guide and group together, you’ll then set off on foot to discover the food of Rome.

Work your way past the lively pavement cafes and buskers, and explore the city center while your guide regales you with stories of Roman history and food. Stop for a classic aperitivo of wine and artisan salami, and learn about the salami’s PGI (protected geographical indication), which is also a hallmark of quality Italian food.

Sample more PGI produce at a historical cheese shop, and pair the cheese with another wine. You’ll also try a signature Rome dish of baccalà fritto, which is a tasty, salted cod. Visit two other eateries to chow down on crispy pizza — ordered by the slice — and sample supplì, the melt-in-the-mouth morsels of fried risotto rice that are typical Roman fare.

After a short walk to work off the food so far, you’ll take a seat in a cozy Trastevere restaurant for a light supper. Tuck into traditional Roman antipasto and two primi (first course) dishes, washed down with two varietals of wine. Finally, you’ll head outside to a gelateria to finish on a high note — with gelato, of course. Your tour ends around 9:30pm, outside the gelateria.

This tour was a high light of our trip to Rome. It's a must, especially if you only have a few days.

I booked this to help us to get our bearings and become familiar with Rome as we only arrived 5 hours before tour started. Our guide was Adriano from Albania I think We started late because one person got delayed and we never really caught up after that and missed out on the pizza at the end I think there are time slots and we missed ours However I will decide on 4 or 5 stars when I have finished the review. Guide was amazing and for me the cheese shop and proprietor were fantastic and then some. I also bought some of their own bottled Balsamic - it is to die for, and the selection of cheeses very small portions and wines were great. We also got a great history lesson on many things Italian, Adriano had arranged for a small birthday cake for myself and another guest 50 yrs younger than me because it was our birthday. Great company throughout and cannot fault Adriano for his efforts and knowledge. OK I am changing it to a 5,

Don't hesitate to take this tour! We did this on our first night in Rome, and it was the best decision we could have made in terms of giving us a lay of the land and a taste of the food in this great city! Marcello was excellent! He took us to so many amazing places that we would have never discovered on our own. Our sons are 21 and 24 and they loved the tour as well. Marcello was really informative and told us some great stories. He also gave some great recommendations on where to eat during our stay. We went to a gelato place that he recommended every night of our stay! Take the tour. You will not be disappointed!

Best tour of the time spent in Rome. Guide was very knowledgeable. If this is your first trip to Italy Rome, this is a must do. Great chance to sample different wines and the many different dishes available in the city. Big recommendation: Arrive Hungry....

If you haven't been to Rome or even if you have and want a great night, you NEED to do this tour. Even if the light rainy weather, we had a blast. Marcello I believe that was his name - half German half Italian guide was a great host. Took us to unique places to try some delicious local food and even had a few jokes along the way that were actually funny unlike other guides.

You will eat A LOT so be sure to bring an empty stomach. By the last stop of the tour, we were all so full but didn't want to stop eating the tasty food. The group was an intimate one with about 13 of us. We made friends along the way and about 6 of us went out for drinks when the tour was over.

Seriously, I highly recommend this and you will absolutely get your money's worth.

The walk thru Rome in the evening was delightful. The group was a perfect size and the guide was very knowledgeable with an excellent rapport with the group. The foods tasted and shared were abundant and delicious, however, for a wine tasting also the wines were average at best. In my opinion the wine tasted with the meats was the best the others were mediocre. As a tour of foods it was superb as to wines dont have high expectations!

The tour was great. Informative and good fun. Bring your appetite and enjoy a tour with other travelers. It is like paying a Roman to be your friend for the night.
When looking for the meeting location North Americans need to look for the building street number at the end of the street name not in front then look up over the doors.

The tour was fantastic. We had a lovely group of seven and Marchello was wonderful. Make sure you go hungry- you literally try it all! We loved the supli rice balls and zucchini flowers, but you try everything from meats, wines, cheeses, different pasta and pizza and gelato. Thanks for a great tour!

This tour was AMAZING! Marcello was our guide and he was so wonderful! SERIOUSLY DO NOT EAT ANYTHING BEFORE YOU COME ON THIS! The amount of food you get is insane and amazing. It is the perfect way to experience the food in Rome. There was definitely wine as well! I could not recommend this tour enough! Do it!
