Visit one of the largest and most important Mayan sites in all of Central America. Your professional guide will pick you up at your San Ignacio hotel for the drive to Tikal National Park. You will be assisted in all border crossing procedures to enter Guatemala safely. Be sure to bring your passport.

Once inside the park, let your imagination run free as you explore highlights among more than 3,000 structures that archaeologists have excavated so far. Learn about daily life and religious practices of the ancient Mayans while wandering through the maze of the Central Acropolis, and envision the excitement of an elite sporting match in the ball courts.

Tikal boasts an array of magnificent ceremonial temples. Climb the steep staircase of the 144-foot (44-meter) Temple of the Grand Jaguar, built to honor a Mayan king. A set of twin pyramids with altars will greet you at complexes Q and R. Marvel at the Temple of the Masks, which was once adorned with intricate ceremonial mask carvings. Perhaps most impressive is the oft-photographed Temple IV, also known as the Double Head Serpent.

After a refreshing lunch break inside the park, satisfy your inner archaeologist during free time when you can explore the ruins independently. Your guide will then take you back to Belize and drop you off at your San Ignacio hotel.

Great Mayan site
, Mar 2020
The place is incredible, totally worth to go. The guide was super friendly, knew a lot about the site and the culture. The tour took a bit longer than expected (we were supposed to be back in San Ignacio around 16 but we arrived 17:30) so have in mind that it can be longer.
A must see!

Booking was easy & the communication has been brilliant. We were picked up from our hotel & travelled to the border in a comfortable vehicle. We then crossed the border where our guide was waiting. Another comfortable air con vehicle. Our guide was very knowledgable, we were probably in Tikal for approximately 3-4 hours. It’s absolutely incredible & mind blowing what the ancient Mayan’s have done. After the tour we had a lovely lunch & headed home. A very hot day with lots of walking so don’t forget water& comfortable shoes. Most of the walking is under the tree canopy but it was still hot. A full day too but well worth it
Tikal Day Trip

We were picked up at our hotel on time and driven to the Guatemala border where our guide helped us cross and introduced us to our guide for the day. We had a fantastic day viewing many of the temples and pyramids of Tikal. We climbed four. Our guide was knowledgeable answered every question. After walking around Tikal for about five hours we had a great lunch and sis a little souvenir shopping before heading back to San Ignacio. I would absolutely recommend this tour.
Awesome day trip from Belize!

This was an absolutely beautiful day with memories for a lifetime. We took this trip in October and it was very very nice. We had two tour guides, one on either side of the border. The guides were both so wonderful and were very knowledgeable. The ruins were second to none. We were able to climb to the top and overlook the jungle, it was very cool.
Great tour!

Cost is a fair bit but we felt it was worth it. All inclusive except the border fees at Guatemala. Very good tour guide.

This was a great experience. Its a long ride from Belize but it is well worth the drive. We had very experienced drivers both in Belize and Guatemala that guided us through the crossing of the boarder. Be aware, it will take a bit of time to get through the Belize boarder but the Guatemala boarder was efficient. Once we made the drive to Tikal there was a lot of history - from the types of trees that are native to the Guatemalan culture and the area, to the history of each Mayan temple. There was also a reference to an interaction with the Aztec. This was such a fun experience. Note that its a long hike and you'll be scaling the structures with stairs that have been added for safety of the pedestrians and the structures. If you have the energy and interest I highly recommend it!
Nice mix of history and nature

Wonderful trip! We were worn out be the end of the day. Hiking around the forest from one major temple to the next. We climbed four temples using wooden stairs each with about 140 to 200 stairs. We saw couti, agouti, spider monkeys, turkeys, and a grey fox.
Well organized but a bit rushed

Prepare for a long day. We were picked up at 7 am in our hotel in San Ignacio, and the drive to the border took about an hour. You will get off the van and walk across the border, where another driver and a Guatemalan tour guide awaits. Some reviews complained it was a confusing process, but it was rather simple. It's about another hour from the border, with a stop in a tourist shop, where you can taste some local coffee and buy souvenirs. My main complaint is that Tikal is a large site, and after a long drive, herding a large group of people through the border, and a stop at the tourist trap store, you really only get about 2 hours on site. Not much time to explore on your own either, as the tour guide has to walk you through numerous temples and pyramids within the dedicated time period.
Amazing cultural and hiking experience

Our second tour on our holidays brought us to Tikal. We departed with four people from San Ignacio and were brought to the border of Guatemala. Immigration went smoothly with the help of our guides. The trip to Tikal was another hour and a half, but our guide Nathaniel kept us entertained the entire way with some stories and facts from Guatemala and the Maya culture. Once on the site, we immediately noticed the park was huge. Only a limited amount of the buildings are excavated on this point in time, but you see a lot of hills around which also contain buildings beneath. Certainly when you climb to the top of temple 4 (Star Wars view) you can really imagine the big city that was once there, although it is now almost completely swallowed by the rain forest. The view was breathtaking and Nathaniel gave all the information we needed. We happened to be there while a ceremony was happening by the Maya's at Grand Plaza, also very nice to witness. After our lovely tour, we went for a nice meal after which we returned to the Belizian border. Very nice experience and met some nice new people. Definitely recommended.
