If you are flying with AVIANCA Airline, you will have to go to the área between gate 2 and gate 5, there you will find AVIANCA stand (booth), there you will fill a form that will be required at immigration. They will let you know if you have to pay a fee to leave the airport. (Usually when you are having a long layover, like yours.. you dont have to pay, because it is included in your ticket) After this follow the normal process, going directly through immigration and customs. Here you will pay $12.00 USD for a temporary VISA Once you are outside the airport, we will be waiting for you with a sign with your name.

This was a great tour we took in February of 2022. Working with the company we set up the tour and a transfer to our hotel. Our flight was delayed by several hours but the local provider was very understating. Upon landing we received a message via WhatsApp. Eco Tours told us our local guide would be Rafael. We were met by Rafael after we cleared customs. He had a printed sign with my name on it. Rafael was very welcoming and escorted us to a very nice 8 passenger van in almost new condition with air conditioning. We then proceeded to head to the historical city center. Rafael shared some great history about the city and the country. When we got downtown we got to see all of the sights and he was even ready to show is the best place to take pictures. Rafael then took us to a place that serves pupusas (the national food). It was a delicious dinner. Since we got in late we decided to call it a night and head to the hotel. Eco Tours and Rafael our great and I would highly recommend this company.
Definitely the tour you want to be on!

This was hands down one of the best/if not the best tours I’ve ever done. We had Osmaro and Rosa for our guides and they were the best. They were very knowledgeable and took us to a wonderful local spot for pupusa for dinner. We were blown away. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see it all with great people.

We did a day trip, not the layover trip and it was amazing! Osmaro was one of the coolest guides we've ever met: perfect English,funny, super educated, knows the history of his country well and has stories!
We saw the monuments, did the rainbow slide(highlight of our day)city, history and the BEST pupusas stop (Osmaro took us to a legit local spot with some jaw dropping views)

This was a great way to spend an 8 hour layover. My guide Eduardo was really nice. He was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. He definitely knows everyone in town! Walking around in El Boqueron park was quite the treat. Cost wise, it got a bit steep in price for one person (definitely more economical for two people), but I guess I understand why it’s priced this way. I was the only one in the tour.

This tour was exactly what I was looking for during a 1-day stay in San Salvador. The tour is called "Layover", but I asked if they would pick me up at the airport and do the same schedule, then take me to the hotel. Communication was perfect during the whole transaction. Osmaro answered my emails right away and personally picked me up and guided me. Since we had extra time, he even took me to some other spots not on the normal tour. Loved the tour and would completely recommend it again, or anything offered by their company.

I highly recommend this layover tour. I adjusted it slightly as I spent the night in San Salvador and they were more than willing to accommodate and happily dropped me at my hotel. Rafael was a very knowledgeable and energetic guide. He stopped at a fabulous restaurant for some pupusas, at my request. I was fortunate to walk downtown after sunset so I saw all the Christmas lights and the bustle of the market. If you're wondering if you should layover in San Salvador...you should!

San Salvador City Tour - Excellent

This was an excellent tour which was well planned and very organized. We were able to do a lot in a short time frame, including multiple vista points around San Salvador, a visitation to a local artist community, volcano vista and national park hike, churches, local cuisine, guided walks through the local markets and city center, San Salvador Cathedral and more! Really great communication from the tour company/guide by emails/whatsapp before the tour, as well as the tour guide upon our flight arrival. The whole process from the pickup at the airport to the airport return was easy and is very organized. Our tour guide Osmaro was really awesome, proving to be very knowledgeable as well as personable. In short, he made the tour even better in my opinion by really going the extra mile. If you only have a short period of time in San Salvador, I highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful trip. Beautiful city.
Raffael is an excellent tour guide. He knows the city inside out.
He can give u actual history of the city from the eye-witness point of view.
Best of all is his sense of humor, which make the trip super fun.
I only have 5 hours of layover time, and he managed to take me to see all the sites, and get back to the airport in time. Best layover tour I have experienced.
