Visit Venice on a day trip from Siena, and enjoy free time to explore the famous floating city with its many islands and bridges. In the afternoon, you’ll meet back up with a guide for a sightseeing tour, and take in highlights such as the Doge’s Palace, Bridge of Sighs, and St. Mark’s Basilica. A glassblowing demonstration is also included, allowing you to see a Venetian tradition in action.
Meet your guide near Bar La Lizza in Siena’s Piazza Gramsci at 6:30am. You’ll then board your transport and travel east to Venice.
Made up of more than 100 islands, Venice gives the illusion of a floating city, making it one of world’s most unique places to visit. When you arrive, you’ll enjoy free time to explore it at your own pace. Wander across the beautiful bridges, and admire the painted palazzi that line the waterways.
After lunch (own expense), meet back up with your guide for a walking tour. As you explore the city on foot, you’ll learn about the city’s history, watch a glassblowing demonstration, and see some of Venice’s acclaimed sights.
Stroll through St. Mark’s Square to see the Bridge of Sighs that connects a prison to the Doge’s Palace. Hear about the doges who once ruled Venice from the palace, and admire the clock tower and Byzantine façade of St. Mark’s Basilica.
Finish your tour in the late afternoon, then return to your transport for the journey back to Venice. Your day trip ends with a drop-off at the start point in Siena.
