When you arrive at Night Safari, part of the same wildlife reserve as the Singapore Zoo, you’ll hop aboard an open-air tram to travel through the 98-acre (40-hectare) jungle park, subtly illuminated to highlight the exciting nocturnal atmosphere in which the resident animals come alive. On the tram, pass by a large reservoir, and journey through habitats specially designed to simulate the natural environments of the wildlife, from the rainforest of Southeast Asia to the Indian subcontinent to the foothills of the Himalayas. Then take a walk along a safari trail with a guide, who helps you spot big cats like Sri Lankan leopards and a Gir lion. Stroll down the East Lodge Trail to watch for a Malayan tiger, spotted hyenas and red river hogs, and check out the Wallaby Trail to look for wildlife that’s native to Australia. Your admission to Night Safari includes access to two shows, described below. When booking this tour, you also have the option to include dinner; see below for more details. Thumbuakar Performance: Watch a performance of cultural dance moves from an enthusiastic troupe of Thumbuakar warriors. You’ll be amazed by their rhythm, fire-eating tricks, flame-throwing demonstrations and unbelievable stunts. Creatures of the Night show: Journey into the rainforest during this interactive show that highlights the behaviors and skills of nocturnal animals like the civit, binturong, otter and more. Be wowed by the powerful jaws of a spotted hyena, and watch the African serval display its ability to leap for prey. Optional buffet dinner upgrade: Enhance your time at the Night Safari with dinner at Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant, a 600-seat eatery with an array of local cuisine and international dishes. Enjoy the rustic-elegant setting, whether inside with its wooden accents and rattan fans or outside where you can listen to the sounds of cicadas, frogs and other nighttime creatures while Ankole cattle graze nearby.
Thank you for your kind comments and happy that you have enjoyed your trip to the Night Safari.
With the animals separated from the visitors by clever designs and landscaping, the Night Safari is one of the most popular attractions in Singapore and is the world's first nocturnal zoo. We hope you had time to visit the day zoo as well, if not the next time you are in Singapore, make sure that you do, we assure you that you will not be disappointed.
Well organised. Didn't do the dinner as I didn't want to waste zoo time in a tourist cafe. If you stop to eat you will have very little free time to look around. The queues for the two included shows were so long we had no hope of getting into either. If you line up earlier ie 40 to 50 mins before show starts you will also waste your free time to look around. Very interesting walking in the 'jungle' at night. Saw lots of animals, even in the dim light, but some were obviously stressed at being in such small areas.
Well worth doing. Comfortable, realistic areas for the animals - it really felt like you were on safari. Great to see these bigger animals in a natural setting. The tiger and lions were spectacular. We chose the dinner package which was an Asian Buffet - very good.
This is a nice way to spend an evening but it is about 50 minutes in a coach away so be prepared for a long evening getting there and back.
The safari itself is very good and we saw almost all of the animals on display, the lion was really incredible and I enjoyed the tram ride although the trail walks afterwards were a little disappointing as not much to see.
Only do this if you have time to spare as its not a must see but enjoyable nevertheless
The food at the buffet was just ok. We were told the safari portion would be about an hour or maybe a little more, the tour was only about 20-30 minutes. Then following you have an option to go in the gift shop, walk around the ground on foot to get another view/closer look or wait for a short show with the animals.
