What To Expect

Walking in normal pace, we’ll cover the historical center of St Petersburg as the guide explains the historical background to the dramatic events that took place in “Petrograd” in 1917. The tour will start with a short bus ride to the Smolny Instutite, which served as the headquarter of the Bolsheviks after the revolution. After that you will, among others, visit the Finland Station where Lenin arrived after his exile in Switzerland, and hear about which role he personally played for the outcome of the events in 1917, (and hear about the importance it all later played in the Soviet propaganda), pass by the Cruiser Aurora, whose shots signaled the start of the October revolution, visit Nevsky Prospect and the Taurid Palace and learn more about the events from February 2017 that culminated in the abdication of the Tsar (the February revolution was actually more violent and bloody than the October revolution) , and of course visit the Winter Palace Square, which was the epicenter of everything during this tumultuous year. The highlight will be visiting the Museum of Political History (Entrance Ticket is included), which summarizes all the events like no other place.

This tour passes by the major locations and buildings connected with the Russian revolution, and also explain how these places have changed over history. As the stories and explanations sometimes go into detail, it is helpful to have a basic knowledge of modern Russian history.

We keep the groups small order to give everyone a chance to ask questions. Discussions are welcomed. 2 parts of the tour will be with public transport. The ticket for the public transport is also included in the price.
