Meet your guide at the gate of the Tauranga cruise dock and set out on a leisurely stroll along the waterfront. When you reach the nearby base of Mt Drury (Hopukiore), get a glimpse of Maori burial caves and learn about their sacred history as your guide regales you with Maori legends.
You’ll cross the road to popular Mount Beach then walk over a short land bridge that leads to Moturiki Island. Soak up the panoramic views of the shoreline and sea during your walking tour around the small island, where you’ll find a large colony of gray-faced petrels. Be on the lookout for little blue penguins that make the area their breeding grounds, and perhaps catch sight of water spraying through the Moturiki blowhole.
Your guide leads you on a short walk up a gentle include to reach the top of Mt Drury, which boasts another ideal vista point. Then wrap up your walking tour in a boutique shopping area about five minutes from the cruise port.
Finish with a relaxing soak at the Mount Maunganui Hot Salt Water Pools. Your entrance ticket includes your choice of two large outdoor pools, with the option to purchase an additional massage treatment.

This was an very good tour because it was just my husband and I with a tour guide. Our guide chatted with our constantly showing us all the interesting points. Kirsty was excellent and when she dropped us off at the hot pools we felt that we had learnt alot about the area. The hot pools were a lovely end to our tour and I could have stayed in for ever!!!!!
The tour guide was lovely and informative. We could have walked the same area on our own. It was raining and she did give us rain ponchos and apologized profusely. We opted not to go to the hot springs due to the rain. Not considering the rain, it is not worth doing.
