Traveller Tips

The guide gave us lots of facts as we drove up to La Laguna which were interesting but the weather on that side of the island was completely different so a coat is needed and even an umbrella!

Indigenous wines of Tenerife
PAUL_M, Dec 2021
It was a well organised day. The pick up near our resort was on time. Once everyone was on the bus we drove to La Laguna where we spent about 1.5 hours. Then an informative visit to a family run Aloe Vera factory with a chance to purchase the products. Then on to the first wine tasting, where watched a short video and visited the wine museum before getting to taste the wines. The hosts were generous with the wines and we could have as many glasses as we wanted. Then on to the 4 course lunch where we had unusual Tenerifan delicacies to start followed by an impressive roast pork main course. After lunch we had a tour of the winery and learned many interesting facts (for example they store some of their wine under water to speed up the aging process). Everything was explained in English and in Spanish. Our only complaint is that the tour guide's English was not easy to understand.
Great value for money

Our guide was extremely knowledge and passionate about the history of the towns and vineyards visited on our tour. For the price of this excursion, we found it very enjoyable and a great way to see parts of North Tenerife.

Good tour, but not just a Winery tour
marriedonthebeach05, Oct 2019
We visited a local market and church before heading to the first winery. That was good, but the wines we liked were a bit expensive ($33 Euros). The second winery was better and lunch was amazing! The wine was more reasonably priced ($12.50 euros for a sweet wine). Lots of time on the bus and our "tour guide" hopped off" before we could thank him and tip him. All and all a good tour!

Not to be missed
Amanda_C, May 2019
I booked this trip as I had wanted to do a wine tasting tour in Tenerife for some time. The info I received before hand was suburb and arrangements for pick up were clear. I was picked up close to where I was staying and on time. The guide introduced himself and the driver we had two more pick ups. The minibus was air conditioned and very comfortable, there was 12 of us so not too many. The guide gave us lots of facts as we drove up to La Laguna which were interesting but the weather on that side of the island was completely different so a coat is needed and even an umbrella! No one had either, so we were dodging the rain. The cathedral was beautiful which we viviste. The guide was very forceful in his thoughts about the government, taxes and religion, I would even go to say some of his comments were offensive. We left there an went on to wine tasting which was fabulous and informative, we also had options to buy wine. We stopped at two wineries and had lunch at one the lunch was lovely and the staff so friendly and helpful. We then drove back and the rain was that bad we couldn’t stop as we wouldn’t of seen anything perhaps somewhere else should be arranged if the weather is that bad. We then drove down to the south and were dropped off. A very enjoyable experience but definitely a coat, sweater and or an umbrella would be useful.

This tour isn't really a gastronomy...
Mark T, Jul 2018
This tour isn't really a gastronomy tour. Yes, we toured a vineyard and ate Canarian food for lunch, but the rest of the time it is mostly a historical walking tour of San Cristobal La Laguna. My wife and I had more of a foodie experience independently exploring the local market in San Cristobal and learning more about local delicacies from the different vendors. Whereas our tour guide viewed the market as just a place to have a bathroom break. In Candelaria, we were given a half our to basically wander the town which we could have done on our own without the tour. Long story short, food is secondary to looking at buildings and walking around towns. Plus, our tour guide Toni spoke too quickly which made anything he said incomprehensible. Lastly, our van driver insisted on not turning on the air conditioning even though it was a very hot day. I had to use some persuasive language in Spanish to finally make him turn on the air conditioning, but he was also reckless and endangered our lives with his driving. Look elsewhere if you want to actually learn more about Canarian cuisine.
Another great adventure!!! Do yourself...
