Nowadays, this district is ranked among Bangkok’s top cultural tourist destinations. The canal, which is used as a commuter route, also serves the local community and there are a number of canal-side Baan Silapin –(artists’ houses) at the heart of this charming neighborhood. Old houses, shops and temples can be found throughout the area, reminding visitors of the good old days. Modern business premises have been carefully made to blend in with surrounding architecture.
