Hammam Al Andalus Granada

Calle Santa Ana, 16, Granada, Spain

The Basics

Though the building only dates back to the 13th or 14th century, it is believed that this site historically held Muslim baths, given its location near the former mosque (now the Santa Ana Church) and the water cisterns discovered underground here. At the time of the Reconquista, when Granada was occupied by the Christians in the 15th century, it is likely that the use of these baths—along with many other Muslim traditions—ended.

Hammam Al Ándalus Granada is a 1998 re-creation of what a hammam in those times might have looked like. Various rooms hold cold, warm, and hot pools, and the complex has a steam room and a relaxation room where you can sip traditional Arabic mint tea. During a typical 1.5-hour visit, you’ll have the opportunity to use these different areas and enjoy a massage of up to 60 minutes. Combination tours that include the Alhambra and the hammam are available.

Arabian Baths Experience at Granada's Hammam Al Ándalus
You get in by batch of people that give the impression you enter busy, touristic place that will take the magic of the Arabian bath away… Be reassured!! You will spend an amazing time in a beautiful restored place. The massage are just incredible as well… It is a very clean place and The hygiene is taken very seriously. Enjoy it best after the Alhambra visit :-)

Bath in the historic bath house

Arabian Baths Experience at Granada's Hammam Al Ándalus
It was great to experience a luxury bath ritual in the 1000-years old bath house built by Muslims. I just felt a little rushed at the end of the session because I asked for a full body massage and it kept me less time to enjoy the various pools. Unfortunately I missed the steam room because of the rush.

A perfect escape!

Arabian Baths Experience at Granada's Hammam Al Ándalus
This was such a magical experience!!! Truly a highlight of my trip. Every room was absolutely beautiful, the atmosphere was so relaxing, and the massage was much-needed after a long day. I would highly recommend this! My only complaint was an abrupt end to my 90 minutes. I was quickly rushed out, and would've appreciated a 10 or 15 minute warning that my time was coming to an end. Other than that, no complaints!!

Arabian baths- a new experience

Arabian Baths Experience at Granada's Hammam Al Ándalus
It was nice visiting the baths and very relaxing after having been walking in the city for two days. The scrub and massage were very good. The only thing I didn’t like is that guests wash with bathing suits on before entering the baths. There are not separated showers for men and women

Silencio!

Arabian Baths Experience at Granada's Hammam Al Ándalus
Wonderful to experience, pools were great but add on the massage to make it ultra relaxing and peaceful. But people...don’t bring your kids to go swimming and do handstands in the pools! That is not what this experience is about! silencio was the motto of the day as the hamam guide repeated numerous times to people! Massage therapist were skilled, environment authentic and cool!

Arabian Baths Experience at Granada's Hammam Al Ándalus
This was exactly what I needed at the end of my visit. You enter the baths were they have three pools at different water temperatures...cold, warm, and hot. The masseur comes and gets you when they are ready for you and treat you to an incredible body rub. I was so relaxed, I fell asleep.

Fabulous Arabian Baths Experience

Arabian Baths Experience at Granada's Hammam Al Ándalus
This is a really nice place, beautiful and atmospheric, with a courteous staff. The massage (30 minutes) was one of the best I have had, and my husband also found his really relaxing. Definitely recommend! Only complaint was that it seemed a little short in the end, because we arrived at 4 and I think were all out by 5:30.

Arabian Baths Experience at Granada's Hammam Al Ándalus
excellent, especially after a morning at the Alhambra. Does not look very promising from the outside but inside wow- so much better than the old hammam in Istanbul. Well organised and had a great massage from Deana. Definite go to experience

When to Get There

To avoid the crowds, book your Hammam Al Ándalus Granada session for a weekday during the morning hours, when the hammam is quietest. Expect to encounter the biggest crowds on the weekends and during peak tourist season, which is typically in the spring and fall. Because there are several pools to use, the hammam rarely feels crowded.

Hammam Etiquette

Since the rules of spas and saunas differ around the world, here’s what you need to know about the Hammam Al Ándalus Granada. A swimsuit is required, and dressing rooms and showers are separated by gender. If you have long hair, tie it up (a swimming cap is not necessary). Shoes are only permitted in the changing rooms; latex booties can be purchased on-site, if you prefer not to complete the circuit barefoot.
