"Getting to Santa Cruz la Laguna was a bit of a challenge! regardless, I took a private boat from Panajachel , then a tuk-tuk from the docks to the cook’s home, the tour organizer was very helpful and communicative, the chef/instructor was super helpful and patient with us and everything was well worth it! The kitchen is very nice, she tough us how to make tortillas from scratch! After all the food is cooked, you get to enjoy it by eating with a beautiful view of the lake and volcanoes!"

"As a first time visitor to Guatemala and Lake Atitlan, this tour was an excellent introduction to the mayan towns, culture and attractions. The tours to see the weaving/textiles and chocolate in San Juan La Laguna were very nice and informative. We were able to shop very nice items and tasty chocolate. The ride in the local transportation - tuk tuks was a lot of fun and we were able to purchase some local paintings. The restaurant we ate in Santiago Atitlan had really good food. I was surprised that most of these places accepted cards. The boat rides felt safe and allowed excellent views of the lake. Overall, the tour was very nice and well organized."

"Alex was our guide. He spoke excellent English and was very easy to chat with. He picked us up at our hotel and took us into Panajachel to catch a water taxi across the lake to the kayaks. From there we proceeded to kayak for about 3 miles with a stop about half way at a cove that allowed for some casual swimming. Be sure to fully cover with sun screen! My shins got a little sunburned from sitting in the kayaks. After kayaking, we beached a little west of hotel Atitlan and walk a trail through the Atitlan Nature preserve to the zip lining location. Here Alex turned us over to the zip lining company. While we waited for our time slot there is a cafe with a small selection of food, a butterfly exhibit and plenty of nature trails. Of note, you have to hike up the nature trails to get to the ziplines so if you venture too far you may find yourself re-hiking the same trails. There are trail maps in the main zipline facility showing the layout of the line and the trails. Excellent day of activities and well worth the experience!"

"This was our first trip to Guatemala and one of my biggest desires was to see the lovely quetzales. The tour was well organized. We were picked up at our hotel at 6 am, our tour guide took us to the boat, we travelled to Santiago Atitlan, were picked to go to the reserve area and walked up the trail to see the quetzales. During our walk we were able to observe other local birds, our guide had a very nice lense and binoculars. The hike is not easy trail, and our tour guide was very patient waiting for us during the steep hike. We were very fortunate to see a female quetzal! Simply GORGEOUS! I felf she even posed for us. The guide's lense gave us an excellent view of this lovely bird!!! During our return, we were able to see more birds and the local flora. From there we were taken to a site with an excellent view of lake Atitlan! The tour was very nice, our tour guide very knowledgable on all the local birds and explained the timeline and months to observe the quetzales. The tour was well worth it!"
