Enjoy picturesque views of the Provençal countryside as you arrive at your first stop, Saint-Rémy-De-Provence, to see ‘Les Antiques,’ a funeral monument and triumphal arch from the time of Augustus.
Next, head south to the Les Baux de Provence – a fortified medieval village perched in Alpilles mountain range. Meander through the narrow stone streets of the historic center, viewing the town's many original 16th-century houses and main attractions such as the Museum of Santons, the Hôtel des Porcelets and St Vincent Church. Afterward, travel to your final stop, the UNESCO-listed Pont du Gard. Considered an ancient work of art, this three-tiered construction is the highest of all elevated Roman aqueducts. View the perfectly preserved masterpiece of ancient engineering that once supplied water to the town of Nîmes.
Your tour ends with return to your hotel in Avignon.
Just excellent way to visit the overall area in the beginning of our vacation. Jeremy was excellent. We all enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot. We then went back to key areas where we wanted to spend more time. Many thanks to Jeremy. Nelson Burns
We had a great time. Melanie's driving was excellent. Her knowledge of the region was very good. She was friendly and funny. The countryside was very pretty. We only wish we could have had a longer time maybe 10 minutes extra in the Pont du Gard and in Les Baux. Those sites are very touristy and since the streets in Les Baux are so narrow, it took time to get to the castle. By the time we made it there, we felt that we would not have had enough time to visit it. So we turned back.
Terrible driver Emily from Provence Reservation. First she was late which she blamed her colleague. Then she came with wrong equipment so she blamed her company. The tour started an hour late. She didn't control the time at each stop. Instead, she chose not to drop everyone off at hotels in the end.
This was our first tour leaving from Avignon, and both of them got off to a late start. They seem to underestimate the traffic and the time needed to pick up everyone at various hotels. Our tour guide had some interesting information, and overall it was a decent way to see some of the sites in the area without renting a car. However, I would not use this company again due to other experiences.
We were able to see the sights, but felt rushed. At Pont du Gard, we were not given the information that the aqueduct was not accessible. So some of us hiked to where the opening of the aqueduct and the entrance to walk across was closed. We proceeded to hike to the other side, and ran up the hill due to limited time and discovered that it was closed too.
Florin, our tourist guide, although look tire, was helpful and trying her best to give us information about the places while driving to the places at a fast speed. At Les Baux, one either see the palace or have lunch, one cannot do both. No personal stories or connection to each of the passenger. However, if you just want to see the places because the distance is itself too far, this is 3 star tour.
The guide is such a nice girl however her instruction didn't give out too clearly. One of the place meant to spend 5, 10 mins for a photo then some people walked further down away to Saint Remy town. We waited there for 40 mins and had to skip the next place then back to Avignon.
We had a wonderful half day tour of Pont du Gard, Les Baux and the Saint Remy area in April 2014. We were picked up by our friendly tour guide, Marie in the morning and made our way to Pont du Gard. After being given time to walk around and take in the views, she drove us to Les Baux and we had time to walk around and shop and have a quick lunch. Les Baux is a 'must-see.' Then we toured the area surrounding Saint Remy which includes ancient ruins (Glanum).
Marie was a great guide, full of facts about the area. We found out that other people on the tour had signed up for the whole day, which goes on to the Luberon area, but this half day tour was perfect for us.
I like the fact that we received a lot of communication from Viator prior to the trip confirming that our tour was coming up and reminded us to print out our vouchers. Highly organized and efficient. I absolutely recommend it!
This tour is awesome! From the ancient town near Van Gogh's hospital, to the quaint and ancient town of Les Baux and inspiring Pont du Gard - it made for a relaxing and informative trip through the countryside.
