Undeniably, the most enchanting time to experience Mt. Batur, Indonesia’s most active volcano, is at sunrise. On this private 10-hour tour, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular natural views after a moderate hike to Mt. Batur’s summit. Gaze into the volcano’s crater, filled with bubbling lava, and enjoy a breakfast of eggs and bananas cooked over hot steam emanating from the earth. Additionally, relax in nearby hot springs and sample specialty luwak coffee at a local plantation. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.
  • Private 10-hour sunset hiking excursion to the summit of Mt. Batur
  • Enjoy spectacular sunrise views from the top of Indonesia's most active volcano
  • See the molten lava inside Mt. Batur's crater and breakfast on eggs cooked using naturally occurring steam
  • Relax in nearby hot springs and visit a specialty coffee plantation
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off in Ubud or Denpasar are included
In order to catch the sunrise, you’ll be collected from your Ubud or Denpasar hotel at 2am. During the 2-hour journey to Mt. Batur, you’ll have chance to catch up on some sleep before you embark on a moderate hike to the active volcano’s summit.
Under the atmospheric cloak of darkness, begin your ascent of the 2,296-foot (700-meter) volcano and, on reaching the top, gasp at spectacular views of Bali’s natural landscapes. As the golden glow of the sun bathes your surroundings in light, revitalize with a breakfast of bananas and eggs cooked using hot steam emanating from the volcano.
After marveling at the lava-filled crater, begin your descent and then head to some local hot springs to soothe aching muscles. On the way back to your Ubud or Denpasar hotel, stop at a specialty coffee plantation to sample luwak coffee — the world’s most expensive variety of coffee — before drop-off.

Amazing view when the clouds clear. The trek is a little intensive on the calves but do-able and you can stop whenever you need to. It is pretty cold at the top, so bring layers. The breakfast consisted of toast, bananas, eggs, and hot cocoa.

It was worth the early start great guide really took care of the young ones

We had to change to the Cultural Tour due a physical injury. The whole day was DISAPPOINTING! The local guide was 'sick' so sent his 14 and 20 year old nephews to take us around for the day. The boys were sweet Bali boys BUT NOT TOUR GUIDES. We missed half the dance and had very little explanation.

We were picked up promptly at 2am, and it took 2 hours to arrive at the start of the hike. Our Guide was so kind and helped us throughout the 2 hour trek to the top of Mount Batur. A few things of note, if you have proper hiking boots, make sure to bring them. My friends and I wore running shoes and there were points where the traction was so slippery that we struggled in gripping the ground. Also, once at the top of the volcano, the weather and wind made it quite chilly. Be sure to bring a light jacket with you once at the top to watch the sunrise. Since we started the hike at 4am, flashlights were provided to us. This very much helped in our trek since it was extremely difficult to see in the dark.

For those who are not experienced hikers, I would be aware that this is not an easy hike. The hike was straight up the mountain for two hours over sand, rocks, dirt, tree roots, and hardened lava from the mountain's last eruption. But once at the top, we were greeted by one of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen. Not only did our Guide provide a light breakfast to us hard boiled eggs, bananas, and banana sandwiches but he also took countless photos of us in order to capture the experience.

After the sunrise, we were toured around to view the top of the volcano and feel the steam coming off the volcano. As soon as we were ready we began the trek back down the volcano. Even though this experience was very difficult, it definitely was the highlight of our trip. I very much recommend this experience to anyone who is active and also wants to view Bali from a completely different perspective.

ALSO FYI: There are no restroom opportunities during this experience so be prepared to use the woods or hold it until the end of the tour. -

The tour was great made even more so wonderful by our guide Jiru. He was friendly and willing to stop if we needed a break. He kept checking to see how we were and gave us interesting info almond the way.
The view was amazing! We had a bit of cloud but it was all part of the fun.

What an awesome trip, we went up the side of the mountain where there were no other people, which made for a peaceful walk up. Once we got up to the top it was quite cold but our excellent guide Raida got us hot coffee and showed us where they cook the food on the volcanic steam. The view is amazing and well worth the work to get up to the top. Would highly recommend the tour and Raida our guide to others.

This tour is great! Highly recommend! Such a challenging ascent , rewarded by the most spectacular views!
Tips: get private tour if you are of average fitness, they will move at your pace, not the groups.
Bring extra water.
Bring insect repellant - especially for the coffee plantation.
Cheers :)
