We had a very bad experience on this excursion. The boat ride to the site drenched everyone in the front 1/3 of the boat. The water was extremely rough and choppy. There were only two guides to more than 40-50 guests. Getting snorkel gear was self-service. Upon entering the water, it was clear that it was quite dangerous. It was difficult to stay near the boat - people were helping others back onto the boat to keep them from drifting away. As we began to leave for Stingray City, the boat would not start. The guides needed to borrow a phone from a passenger to call for help. There was no safety/communication equipment to flag down other boats in the area that were also snorkeling. We needed to wait for a new boat. It was extremely dangerous when both boats were tied together in choppy waters as every passenger - including small children - needed to cross to the new boat. There were no life jackets on the new boat had we experienced an accident. We still went to Stingray City which was somewhat fun, but it was overshadowed by the earlier stress. Several people were seasick from the rough waters. With the original guides on the broken boat, the new guides did not know everyone so we believe that some guests were actually left at Stingray City. We were in great jeopardy of being late to return to our cruise ship on time. We would not use this company or recommend them to anyone.
We had a fantastic time. My sister and her husband were here and she was scared of the stingrays. The guide was really good at finding a calm stingray for her to hold and she realised by his discussion with her that she was safe. She now has memories to last her a lifetime about holding and kissing a stingray.
The water was very choppy that day. A lot of waves so couldn't enjoy swimming or handling the rays. I've never gotten sea sick, but on this trip I did. They never told us how the water was. I would have gone to the beach or done something else. To really enjoy this trip the water has to be very calm like glass.
Getting to swim and touch a stingray is pretty fantastic. The whole scene is kind of chaotic with boats and people everywhere and then these giant stingrays are all around you. Makes for a crazy afternoon. Overall, a good excursion. I wish there would have been a little more communication from the tour guide. Maybe he's just tired of tourists. I'd be tired if I had his job.
The definite highlight of my cruise trip! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the islands and stingrays. His boat was perfect, spacious and airy.
When he brought us out to the snorkeling spot, he made sure to snag the best one! The guide was very attentive and we felt safe when we were with the stingrays, and had some very cool fisherman stories for us! The stingrays were so cool to touch and give kisses to optional!
The starfish visit was another highlight of the trip. There were lots of them in the shallow water.
The pictures that they take are nice but a bit pricey, so make sure to bring your own camera.
10/10 would recommend.
Not as polished as similar tours I have taken through the cruise lines, though I did like the smaller group size. The snorkeling portion of the tour in particular was sub-par do a dedicated snorkeling tour if that is a primary factor for you. No fins were provided, nor was there any participation by the tour operators in this activity.
