You’ll visit Inverness, Loch Ness and more during this scenic 2-day journey to the Scottish Highlands, departing from Edinburgh by comfortable minivan. Disembark along the way to explore historical villages and atmospheric castles tucked away in the woods, with an optional boat ride on Loch Ness in search of the mysterious Loch Ness Monster.
Spend the night in Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands, with your choice of a single, twin or double room at a 3-star hotel or bed & breakfast (guesthouse) upon booking.
This small-group tour means you can reach out-of-the-way places, allowing you more time to discover genuine Scotland, with the added benefit of gaining intimate knowledge of the Scotland Highlands from a knowledgeable guide.
Day 1: Edinburgh – Inverness
Depart Edinburgh in the morning and take a leisurely stroll along the River Tay or explore the wooded grounds of the Hermitage to look for 18th-century follies such as Ossian's Cave. From here you will continue on to the popular holiday town of Pitlochry, where there will be free time to have lunch (own expense) in one of the local restaurants or cafes.
Cross over the geological fault line, which separates the Lowlands from the Highlands, taking in views of the magnificent Highland scenery and passing the majestic Blair Castle before entering Cairngorm National Park. This unique area is one of the last remaining pockets of native Caledonian pine forest left standing. Your guide will stop in the ancient Rothiemurchus Estate to allow you time to fully appreciate the stunning views.
Continue your journey north, arriving at Inverness in the early evening. You will be dropped off at your accommodation, and the evening is free for you to explore the capital of the Highlands.
Overnight: 3-star hotel or B&B in Inverness
Day 2: Inverness – Edinburgh
After a leisurely breakfast, you will picked up from your Inverness accommodation and travel toward the famous Loch Ness. There will be stops along the way to take photos of the beautiful surrounding countryside. Upon arrival you will have the option to take a boat trip out on the loch (April to October; price not included) to look for Nessie the Loch Ness Monster, and take in views of Urquhart Castle, or you may stay on dry land to explore the castle's mighty ruins.
Journey south past Ben Nevis and Fort William to Glencoe. This haunting glen was the scene of a terrible massacre in 1692, where many of the Macdonald Clan died. The tour stops here for you to take in the unique atmosphere of this place.
The return journey to Edinburgh takes you across the wild and remote Rannoch Moor and through the countryside around Stirling, before concluding in Edinburgh in the evening.

It was my first visit to Scotland and my time is limited. The two-day small group tour of Rabbie's to Loch Ness and Inverness was therefore a perfect way see some parts of the highlands and places outside of Edinburgh. It was raining and windy but these didn't deter the group from enjoying the tour. The group was small so that made interaction with other guests and the guide manageable. Didn't have time though to explore Inverness as we arrived in the city around 6:00pm. Keith our guide was great, conversant and knowledgeable about Scotland's history and current affairs. He is also quick-witted, funny at times, and played a mix of Scottish and contemporary music and these helped during the long drives. The B and B accommodation (Pine Guest House) and hostess (Angela) were also great. Room was comfortable with bathroom, queen bed, cable TV, electric pot, coffee, tea and biscuit, plus the traditional Scottish breakfast was delicious. The place is also across a supermarket, which was great for late shopping.

Sharon (Tour Guide) made each mile along the tour memorable through sharing lots of history on the areas and items seen. It was truly a valuable tour of th Highlands and Lowlands up to Inverness and Edinburgh. Lovely off the path stops to tak in local scenes of history, rivers, waterfalls, and heartwarming people to meet. Thanks Rabbi and Sharon for making My 47th birthday trip a blast. Warmest Wishes from Cody Harris and Despina Metakos.

Definitely recommend if you're looking to get a taste of Scotland. As goes with all tours there's never enough time, but our guide was amazing and funny. Highly recommend Ciaran as your guide. He was full of information and friendly. Since all of us made it back in time from each stop we had some spare time and Ciaran even squeezed in an extra stop along the way. Talk to the locals when you can and don't be afraid to ask questions!

I loved this tour sooooo much. Amazing and fun and beautiful. I loved our guide/driver. This was an amazing value!!! Book this tour!! It was great to be in a small bus and navigate the roads very easily, the guide was able to change the itineraries each day to suit us, which was very nice.

Best way to see the Highlands. Our guide Al, was absolutely wonderful. Friendly and full of knowledge and filled us in on everything along the way. This trip was well organised and everything went beautifully We had plenty of photo stops along the way and seen some amazing places. We chose the hotel option, which was beautiful. It was right on the river with only a five minute walk to the town. I look forward to returning to Scotland one day, and I would definitely book another of these tours to a different area. This tour was well worth the money and would highly recommend to anyone with short time in Scotland wanting to see the Highlands.

Our tour guide was amazing! We visited two distilleries for whisky tastings after our group took a vote. We stopped in lots of spots to take pictures, all of which were absolutely amazing! My mom and I had such an amazing time and highly recommend!

Good tour--great tour guide. Had a great time and really loved the mini hike out at the end. Good accommodations and a very, very well worth-it tour price. Would recommend.

I have been on many tours over the years and this was by far one of the best! Mackenzie was an AMAZING tour guide. He was not just knowledgable of the highland way of life, he is a highlander himself. Not only did we do the activities listed, but based on the interests of the group, he took us to some additional stops. Having a small bus with less people was much more enjoyable than a large coach trip and allowed for the flexibility that our trip had. Scotland is known for unpredictable weather but we managed to get some sunshine in as well. I could not have asked for a better trip and will most definitely return for a longer one in the future.
