What To Expect

Greet your guide and group of fellow food lovers at Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum.

Kick off your tour at some nearby street stalls where you can try local appetizers such as chao muc (a dry squid porridge) and xa xui (Cantonese barbecued pork).

Continue on to the corner of Nguyen Cong Tru and Calmette, and taste a unique street food called banh bo banh tieu.

Afterward, head to an area popular for its Saigonese coffee. See why the locals all are about this particular cup of joe before moving on to sample ha cao (Chinese-style dim-sum), bo bia (a Saigonese spring roll) and bo cuon mo chai (barbecued beef meatballs).

End your tour with a Saigon beer, peanuts and rice crackers and taste some deep fried tofu with lemongrass or salted egg yolk with green chili. Then, bid your guide and group farewell in this bustling location and choose to continue exploring or take a taxi back to your accommodation.

Disappointing Experience.

We had a really sweet tour guide, but it's obvious that the tour is put together for the sake of it. HCMC does not have the expansive street food offerings as Hanoi, especially in the more touristy areas. The first dish we tried was excellent. It was all downhill from there. A rice paper pizza topped with ketchup and mayonnaise and a small cup of flan is not what I would call an authentic Vietnamese experience. The tour ended with bottled beer on the touristy beer Street. For $33, this should be a hard pass.

Tried to meet up with our tour guide on the day of and had no instruction of what to do or who to meet. Absolutely no communication on the day of the tour. Apparently missed our tour guide and the tour and didn’t get the experience. Very disappointed by this company and think they should hold more responsibility for waiting for people that signed up for their tour. Definitely would go with a different company than this one!

Recommended to Taste the City

Highly recommend this tour if you're in Ho Chi Minh City and want to enjoy the food! Thuong, our guide, was great and very knowledgeable. The sheer volume of street food options in the city can be intimidating to choose from -if you're a foodie, we enjoyed each stop on this tour and felt we got to experience a nice range of options that we might not have normally known to stop and sample. My only recommendation would be to replace the last stop (beers at a bar which was aversge) with another food location since everything was so tasty.

Queenie was a wonderful host - knowledgeable and full of insights about the food and also Saigon culture. Our group had a fantastic time, ate delicious street food and learnt a lot. I would recommend this tour to everyone!

Excellent tour. Guide was there to greet us when we arrived at meeting point 10 minutes early. Was introduced to typical Vietnamese food and drink. We arrived by cruise ship, not able to eat again that night! Ms. Vu was most helpful, arranged taxi for our return to ship after tour.

The tour was well planned but the guide was totally useless. He he took us to the five eating places and 2 drinking places as noted. But he was in a mighty hurry to finish the tour off and did not give any information about the food.

Excellent time on street food tour

Bic was an excellent walking street food tour guide. We experienced great food, the crazy traffic, the wonderful city of Ho Chi Minh, and great company on this tour. Bic was fun, patient, very knowledgeable, energetic, and lovely to be around. It rained on us for about 30 mins and I thought that was going to ruin the tour; however, Bic did not allow the rain to stop us experiencing the greatness of Ho Chi Minh City. Thank you very much Bic.

We had the good fortune to have Bic as our guide, she was friendly, informative and really looked after is, in a word delightful. There was a good variety of tasty food (you won’t go hungry), I’m now addicted to the iced coffee and the Saigon Beer’s pretty good too. All in all a great night

Had high hopes for this tour based on other reviews. Our guide told our small group of three to call him “Fox”, but I don’t know what his real name was. Yes, we ate food. But Fox gave us virtually no explanation, no context, and not much of anything. He’d walk ahead of us and frankly I think he would have just kept walking if we had not followed. Also, he actually ate everything on the tour. Usually the guides don’t eat; I think he did the tour just to have dinner.
