Departure Time

4:15 PM
Greet your guide at your hotel and venture downtown to La Crucecita in your air-conditioned minivan. Refresh with cold water and soft drinks before beginning your sightseeing tour at the zocalo (main square), where many of the city’s principal attractions reside. Gaze at the majestic cathedral and browse quaint artisan shops to truly absorb traditional Oaxacan culture.

Soak up the sunshine in the ambient square before visiting the sacred Church of the Virgin of Guadalupe. Within, marvel at the colossal 65-foot (20-meter) painting of the Mexican patron saint, said to be the largest depiction of the Virgin in the world. Next, indulge your creative side with a visit to a traditional weaver’s workshop in La Probadita; browse bespoke boutiques for unique gifts and learn about the complex processes of pre-Colombian weaving.

Satisfy an appetite for authenticity by exploring the numerous food and drink shops within La Probadita. Sample the local delicacy of mescal, a native Oaxacan alcohol made from the maguey plant, alongside tasty snacks such as quesillo (a distinct Oaxacan cheese) and chapulines (fried grasshoppers). For dessert, tantalize your taste buds with sublime cinnamon-laced chocolates.

After quelling your cravings for traditional fare, conclude your tour with a drop-off back at your hotel.

Short and sweet tour

This tour is a great way to get a taste of Huatulco. Juan took us to various view points and gave us enough information to help us get a feel of the area. We stopped at a few places in town but didn’t feel pressured to buy anything in the shops. We never felt we lingered too long in any of the stops but we also never felt rushed either...a perfect balance.

This tour was very interesting and the tour guide was easy going and friendly able to talk with english and spanish tourist simultainiusly. The trip to LaCrucecuta was very good. The mescal tasting, the black pottery and the handwoven linens made for some interesting stops. The tour ended at the town square and gave everyone enough time to explore the square, the church, and the surrounding shops. I would reccommend Viator tours to my friends and others.

the guide took us all around the bays, lighthouse-Santa Cruz-mostly. Some pretty pictures there. Very limited time shopping in the little square downtown the church was lovely but he timed it right when a service was going on, so felt uncomfortable going inside to take pictures, or looking long at the beautiful friezes inside the church. also no beverages were offered to us.
