Why Travelers Choose This Tour
This tour offers the flexibility of six daily departure times to choose from.
Auschwitz itself was a very surreal experience.
To be walking around in such lovely weather a place, where such atrocities occurred just a few years ago was something I've still not fully absorbed.
I think everyone should have to visit this place to get a perspective on their lives and what they actually have in this day and age.
As for the Viator tour. Courteous staff and the whole day went without a glitch. Smooth transport and informative input. A pleasant day, if that is the right word.
If I had one bit of constructive feedback for the tour company, it might be to make the meeting point a little bit clearer. There were a few of us wandering around in the square like lost sheep, but other than that was highly pleased with their service.
The trip was well organised and ran on time. There was an opportunity to eat when we arrived at Auschwitz in the cafe/restaurant or the fast food hole in the wall, and go to the loo (note, the toilet cost 2 zloty a time). We also had another shorter rest break before heading to Birkenau on the coach (which was only 5 mins down the road). You are only allowed to take small bags around the sites so I had to leave my backpack in the coach, which worked out fine. Out guide was extrememly knowledgeable and presented all the information clearly and with an adequate amount of gravitas. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn more and see the sites for themselves - its a painful but important history.
While I do believe it's a place everyone should visit, it was completely overcrowded with tourists. Our tour guide was brilliant and informative and did the absolute best he could, but we were rushed through the exhibits because there was a crowd in front of us and a crowd coming behind us in very close proximity. I still think it's very important to see and learn and contemplate, I just wasn't anticipating the crowds and the time limit in each place.
No matter how much you have been taught or seen tv footage of the holocaust the tour brings to the fore how evil humans can be to each other. Everyone needs to visit to keep the history alive. We should never forget.
Great organisation and really good tour guide - really explained everything well. Didnt really need 45 minute break on arrival after 1hr 20 coach trip but overall it was excellent and real value for money.
+ The driver did a great job getting us to the different sites. The van we were in was very comfortable.
- Once we got to Auschwitz we were met a tour guide who was not fluent in English. Unfortunately we missed out since we could not understand her at times.
We had a very friendly and knowledgeable guide for the whole tour, got to see both camps including the gas chamber and where the prisons slept. Very informative and would definitely recommend doing whilst in krakow
