Pickup and drop-off at central locations in Krakow
Meet a driver at your Krakow hotel for departure between 830am and 9:30am, then board a Mercedes Benz minivan or minibus for the 70-minute trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Along the way, the short documentary The Liberation of Auschwitz will be screened, including footage by the Soviet soldiers who freed the camp.
Upon arrival at Auschwitz-Birkenau, join a guide for a 3.5-hour guided tour of the camps, now preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll see barracks, train tracks, and long rows of gas chamber chimneys, and learn the story of those who suffered and died in the largest concentration and extermination centers in the Nazi Third Reich.
Following your time at Auschwitz-Birkenau, continue to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a roughly 1.5-hour drive. Pause for an hour-long lunch break at the mines (a packed lunch can be provided upon request, at additional expense).
Enter the 13th-century, UNESCO-listed salt mine for a 2.5-hour guided tour, touring a landscape carved from salt, with pillars, vaulted ceilings, and sculptures in glistening white. This full-day tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel or at another location in central Krakow.
This tour is both amazing and humbling at the same time, auschwitz and birkenau is the most historical humbling experience you could imagine and one that everyone should witness, the salt mines are mind blowing and so beautiful, this is a long day with a lot of walking but one that is well worth it
I really enjoyed this tour. It was very informative and both Auschwitz and the Salt mines are well worth a visit. Seeing Auschwitz is very surreal and listening to the stories from our guide was quite shocking and also humbling. I think everybody should visit this place at least once. The Salt Mines were beautiful and the church inside was spectacular. We had a break to get some food in the middle which was great and the guide brought us to a lovely Polish restaurant. I would definitely recommend this tour!
Very very busy at Auschwitz especially at first camp and hard to keep up with guide. Never right beside the part the guide was speaking about.
Salt mines were fantastic but the head sets seemed to cut out if you were not right beside your guide.
Pick up from hotel on time. Driver excellent. Quality of vehicle excellent. Tour of auschwitz very good although tour guides English not the best and she was very mechanical and lacked emotion. This did not however detract from the overall experience. Salt mines in afternoon excellent. recommend
The tours were both excellent but there was confusion about where and when the driver should pick us up. The company cancelled the booking by accident because they thought it was a double booking and then when they re-instated it the driver didn't bother to come into the hotel to get us and drove off leaving us waiting. The tour company found a private driver and had to catch us up to the group at Auschwitz and then to make special arrangements to get us around all day which they did well but it was a little stressful. Because the company tried really hard not to disappoint us which we appreciated and to work out the logistics after the original error, I am rating the tour as good. The big problem was caused by the driver who didn't do his job properly not the company and the tours themselves were excellent.
Very pleased with this tour. Everything was taken care of for me for the whole day. Driver was excellent, knowledgeable and punctual. Avoided all ques booking in advance too. Those leading the tours were excellent. Strongly recommend this company if you don't have much time in Krakow and would like to see both the camps and the salt mines.
PROS: Great driver, informative and professional guides and all spoke quite good English. Hotel pickup.
CONS: Lunch break wasn't until 3:45pm. In Auschwitz there is a large amount of people walking through at the same time and is very crowded. Made for a very long day (9am-8pm tour)
