The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the world's oldest salt mines and a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as being one of Poland’s most popular attractions. This 4.5-hour tour from Krakow includes a 2.5-hour guided tour of the underground mines, tunnels, lakes, and chapels, plus pickup and round-trip transport from a central Krakow hotel.
  • 4.5-hour tour of Wieliczka Salt Mine from Krakow
  • Explore the underground wonders of the Wieliczka Salt Mine on a walking tour
  • Admire highlights including an underground lake and the St. Kinga’s Chapel
  • Learn more about Poland’s oldest working mine from a knowledgeable guide
  • Choice of morning or afternoon departure times available
  • Great-value tour includes entrance fees and round-trip transport
Your tour begins with pickup from your central Krakow hotel in time for a 10am or 4pm departure (depending on option chosen). Traveling by air-conditioned Mercedes Benz vehicle, set out on the around 30-minute journey to the Wieliczka Salt Mine.

On arrival, your guide will be waiting to whisk you on a walking tour of the magnificent mines. Venture underground, where the vast complex of caverns, tunnels, and chambers are all completely carved from salt — a dazzling sight. Along the way, visit the Kinga’s Chapel, where even the chandeliers are carved from salt crystals; pause to admire dramatic salt sculptures; and pose for photos by the underground lake.

After around 2.5 hours exploring the mines, head back to Krakow, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 2.30pm or 8.30pm (depending on departure time).

Quite amazing to see the scope of the mine and some of the architecture and sculptures inside. Our guide was very good, knowledgeable and with excellent English. Quite busy though and not a lot of time to explore things in any detail or wander off on your own. Hotel pick up and drop off went very smoothly.
Morning down the Salt Mine

Picked up on time from our hotel and transported to the Salt mine which took about 25 minutes. We then met our guide Peter who took charge of us for the morning.Headsets were handed out.Amazed by the number of people looking to see the mines, so would definitely be part of an organised group. Walked down a winding wooden staircase approximately 370 steps! Then went from chamber to chamber via long airey tunnels with ample space to walk comfortably.Sculptures and caverns were spectacular.Tour took a couple of hours and was well worth it with the finale an amazing final feature. People should be aware a lot of walking but no inclines so easy walking and well worth it

Wasn't sure about this trip as I suffer from claustrophobia but honestly there is no need to worry. There are alot of steps but it's worth it. We had a great tour guide which made all the difference. I would definitely recommend this tour worth every penny. We booked a few things with Viator who were excellent and would definitely book through them again 😁

The trip was very informative-the only uncomfortable part was the 45 second elevator ride to return to the top. Crammed into a very small elevator made many people anxious.

Didn’t know what to expect but it was amazing so glad we went. Definitely book for this tour as safe a lot of waiting about.

Fabulous organisation and information once we were at the mine. No doubting why it is a UNESCO site. A charming inclusion is the sound and light show. It was a fast paced, long walk for a 72 year old woman with 800 steps, so beware if you are disabled or claustrophobic. The tour was very rushed but we were late arriving as two people were late at the pickup point. So disrespectful. We missed the museum and had to toss up between 10 minutes for a toilet stop or time at the souvenir shop. Comfortable bus and good communication from the driver. Costs 10 zloties to take photos. My phone functioned better in the low light than my SLR camera.
A must visit!
